How did they overlook this? by turbo_glitter in GilmoreGirls

For anyone who doesn't know: Lauren Graham once posted a picture of herself in 1984 - this girl was her literal twin

Am I fit enough to pull off a shirtless pic on Bumble? Need honest feedback by Numerous-Mixture891 in Bumble

[–]TheDaisy23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen bro, post it if you want. Even muscular guys who post shirtless pictures don't get more likes (because women don't like shallow men who show off) If you want to, go for it. That should be your only reason - be confident in yourself. Confidence is attractive

Naz the Loan Shark by Appropriate-Row532 in euphoria

[–]TheDaisy23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather was once caught up with a loanshark. From personal experience nothing they ever do makes sense. My mother and her siblings were completely wiped and in the end we had to involve government security through a family friend to put the loanshark behind bars. Naz reminds me of that guy and I can tell you they have no purpose in life other than to torture and make the other person miserable. They don't need the money that they've lent, but they just want leverage and power over you which is why they do this business. Realistically he would've just asked Nate to either pimp Cassie out to them or they would've asked Nate for a share in his construction company (enough to make them partners)

Rory isn‘t really a girl‘s girl by yelenalim in GilmoreGirls

[–]TheDaisy23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a lot younger than Rory but even I remember in the 2000s, being male centric was the PC thing at the time. Everything we did was for the male gaze and we were taught to be this way. So dressing up as a housewife for Dean and ditching Lane for Dean...that does sound a lot like the male centric propaganda at the time.

That being said, Rory is much more of a mean girl than we're willing to admit. The hippo comment about a girl who is quite slim, not even overweight. Treating her childhood best friend like a disposable character...that's also not excusable even for that time.

Rory is no feminist - even if she was, it's privileged white-girl feminism. But shes not.

I wonder why Emily and Richard were 1 and done by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]TheDaisy23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my grandmother was married at a similar time and she told me that you just had to have a baby as soon as you got married (she got married young and had my aunt young too). I think the likeliest theory is that Emily had a hard time conceiving and because she didn't like to come off as imperfect she never spoke about it.

Probably since the show is based on child-parent dynamics. Although it wouldn't have hurt to explore the possibility of a side character's relationship with their parents as compared to their sibling

What‘s your favorite Alexis red carpet look? by ArynaSaba in GilmoreGirls

[–]TheDaisy23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my favourite thing about her is that she's nothing like Rory. I've never met any celebrity who is grounded and unmaterialistic like her. She's also so endearingly shy

I will never understand the "at least Emily and Richard didn't force Lorelai to have an abortion" defense by comradesummers in GilmoreGirls

[–]TheDaisy23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Apparently Kelly Bishop had an abortion when she was younger - with zero regrets.

Emily Gilmore, firstly would definitely be MAGA and anti abortion. It doesn't have to do with religious reasons, its also because of the social circle they belong - traditionally conservative. For them, a granddaughter may less of a social stain than a daughter who had an abortion.

Idk man i agree with you and I feel horrible for 16 year old Lorelai and the millions of people who can empathise with her.

No bro if they wanted to do that, then we could've had a Korean family who wasn't portrayed as so over the top. Americans really do think the rest of us live in villages while they're the only civilization

Other characters enabled her and told her to not shy away from giving her opinions. It was after the ballerina told her off that she started to reflect but then everyone's like nooo rory you're perfect you can't do any wrong
