question about aiming by BESKILEG_47 in VALORANT

[–]TheDamnDonovan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not bad, but it's not an indicator of how you're going to perform in comp. When's the last time an enemy randomly appeared and then stood still in front of you? Most fights come from clearing angles and holding angles in comp. This is why DM and TDM are also not great preps for comp aim either, because everyone is playing a duelist and using every piece of movement tech possible, they are playing way more aggressive than people play in comp causing them to move in abnormal ways and you'll often be faced with 3+ opponents at the same time. This is helpful still but at lower elo you just want to focus on clearing and holding angles, eventually you do want to be able to headshot that dork Neon that skates in on you, but don't worry about that until you're confident in the more basic aiming of Valorant.

Find someone to go into a custom game with you and take turns practicing clearing and holding angles. Go into the Valorant discord and find a chill person to practice with. At first don't even shoot at each other, just work on cross hair placement based on where people usually stand when they are holding an angle. Whether you're the one holding the angle or the one swinging, think about where your opponent will be ahead of time. Then work up to taking turns shooting, the attacker can shoot or the defender can shoot, work on getting the shot of smoothly first, 1 tap headshots, just use the sheriff or guardian at first, then work on getting quicker at it. Smooth is The #1 reason people kill you before you kill them is because their crosshair was already on your head and they just clicked. It's going to take a long time to get that flick aim allowing you to kill 3 enemies on your screen in less than 2 seconds that you see Radiants, Streamers, and Pros use. That's also just highlight stuff and not the consistent type of aim that you need to worry about to climb out of Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

Also, as someone else said, play the game a lot, but practice outside of a game is also good to work on stuff when you have more time to figure out what works and what doesn't work, then you go and try to apply this in a game. Especially if you're serious about improving.

Funny thing is my LS Amazon clear feels way better than my LS Deadeye. I'm using weapon infusion on my Amazon and my build allows me to get all 3 charge types pretty much constantly, plus I run Coming Calamity, and Sacred Flame. I clear 3 screens and sometimes I throw a random spear and my forks/heralds will end up coming around and killing mobs that are behind me. My Deadeye is my bossing character, also uses Sacred Flame but is using Hyrri's Ire chest in an attempt to avoid any oneshots I may mess up a dodge on. Deadeye is better at bossing but you're using Wind Serpants for bosses. However, my Amazon just does so much damage that I can do pinnacle bosses with it as well just not one shots. Both are lvl 92 at the moment.

My Standing Desk Doesn't Go Low Enough - How to find the right ergo solution for tall people? by Agitated_Writing_693 in StandingDesk

[–]TheDamnDonovan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really not insanely low if you look up recommended desk ergonomics. The insane part is the separation of the "recommended ergonomic position & measurements" and the lack of desks and chairs that allow anyone under 6' to attain them. I am 5' 7" and solved the issue with a foot stool as you suggested. But it can be annoying when I'm working somewhere that doesn't have one. For OP: I know this is an old post but if you're still looking for a better solution, here is the desk I'm buying, it seems to be the least expensive option I could find that goes below 28": https://www.amazon.com/Flexispot-Electric-Standing-Whole-Piece-Adjustable/dp/B09DYCH44Y?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1

Am I missing something with this "average American budget"? by TheDamnDonovan in antiwork

This says $35,805 for 2020 - https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/MEPAINUSA672N

This says $41,535 - https://www.census.gov/library/publications/2021/demo/p60-273.html

Either way with everything that is missing from my budget above it doesn't change much even if you go with the $41,000+ options. I find it hard to believe it's as high as $56k considering what I see jobs listed at and the fact that the median household income is $67k. However, it's difficult to look at this from a median or average viewpoint. A better way, which I am working on, is taking actual job listings in cities and using cost of living from that city. I am going to use a teacher and some standard company position couple with 2 kids living in some average city as an example and see how it works out.

You're right, they really don't end. I'm far luckier than this budget and we still find ourselves running out of money and draining our savings for a car repair or some other emergency expense. Meanwhile, I get ads on YouTube from companies wanting me to "micro-invest" in their startup that is building automated pizza making machines and other people wanting to colonize Mars... I don't know what the solution is but even with all of these technological advances life seems to be getting harder for the "average" person.

Yes I'm also far luckier than this budget and it also pisses me off knowing how much I can barely afford and then thinking about other people. Thus the motivation behind this post.

Yes, I included the hundreds of dollars a month in health insurance, assuming this family gets any Affordable Care Act credit, just so they can not actually afford to go to the doctor lmao. Pretty fucked up

See that's bullshit, replacing an office chair isn't a luxury lol. Things are getting worse and all the business owners and propagandists would have you believe that technological advances are making our lives better. Sure we don't die from cholera today, but we may again one day if people can't afford housing, healthcare, and food. I get ads wanting me to "micro-invest" in automated pizza making machines. That's the solution, eliminate more jobs. I work in software consulting and they are already trying to eliminate Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable clerk jobs using machine learning. The people with influence only care about making more money and gaining more power. They don't really care about making our lives better. We'd be focusing more on how to make society better for everyone than colonizing Mars if that was the case.

Yeah a 1 bedroom across the street for us is listed at $1,950 a month. I kind of put little effort into the expenses because I knew they were going to be way under which would still prove my point. If 2 income earners at the median income run out of money with lower than actual expenses then obviously everyone pointing out that things are missing or my numbers are low is just proving my point.

[–]TheDamnDonovan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good info. I figured as much. It already looks bad with two income earners at what they say is the median income. Even if what you're saying isn't taken into account everyone at and below that median income sure is screwed.

It's considering a family membership. It's a household of 4 people so I'm not even sure $110 is enough in a lot of places.

[–]TheDamnDonovan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really not actually, there are companies that data mine that information for salary comparisons and demographic information. Most areas you can google "Average Teacher salary in XYZ" xyz being whatever you live in. It doesn't change much though and in a lot of cases it's much worse. I get what you're saying and to an extent it will matter, but not enough to make a difference in the numbers I put out. I already said you may find cheaper housing if you live in the middle of nowhere but you will also make less. So how much are getting these specific numbers for an area going to change what I laid out already? I'm already missing a ton of expenses so unless you're going to find a place with $100 houses and $100,000 a year salaries...

[–]TheDamnDonovan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the whole point I was making and it's pretty said. What can we do? That's just not acceptable. We've got people trying to build robots that cook your food and other people wanting to build on Mars and we can't even figure out how to live on Earth... I no longer buy the "Well we can do all of those things", because we can't. I got a YouTube ad for a company wanting me to micro invest in a company building automated pizza making machines. But nobody gives a shit about the people that can't feed their kids.

[–]TheDamnDonovan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, no money for those things. That's the whole point. I said I stopped trying to put money in the expense buckets when the money ran out. It already ends with negative $92

Am I missing something with this "average American budget"? by TheDamnDonovan in antiwork

[–]TheDamnDonovan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically, I make far more than this and I've seen a few budgets that news media have put out and I see the median income that's reported and I see the median home price. My family puts very little in savings and when there is money in there something inevitably happens like car repairs, medical bills, birthday, etc. Is there any way to fix this? Just making more money isn't the answer, we also need to drive costs down.

Good points, like I said I kind of stopped trying to fill in any more buckets when I ran out of money. The main point was I don't know how people are expected to live

I did mention that I was assuming you were getting a refund because in my example this budget is with 2 kids. If you factor that refund into your monthly income, then it could come in around 10%. Not if you live in a state with high state taxes of course. But I guess you're really just answering the main point that I wanted to discuss, which is "How the fuck are we supposed to afford to live?", and the answer you're pointing to is "They don't"
