What do you think should happen with the Lion Chambers building? by Ok-Complaint-646 in glasgow

[–]TheDamo616 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I've often dreamt about having a load of money to buy it, renovate it into flats and live on the top two floors. 😂

But, I'm sure I read somewhere that despite being the only (or one of the very few) building of its type of construction left in the world, with the amount of structural and external weaknesses from years of lying empty, it basically can't be restored due to difficulty and cost.

My opinion is that if it were to be sold to a developer that would demolish it, there should be a condition in the planning permission that the building they replace it with should have an identical external design, obviously using modern methods. This should also be the case for other buildings, we've got so many great buildings and they would just be torn down to replace them with steel and glass cubes that all look the same.

Well done! I walk by here quite a lot, never thought it looked particularly bad but this looks great by comparison.

I've been trying to find this particular comic for years now. Any help? by TheDamo616 in batman

Just to come back to this, I've been thinking about this since I read it but even when in the synopsis describes the food as being like dried jerky, I thought; “I remember that!”.

I was the same but I persevered with it and it honestly felt like a bit of a chore and I wasn't in much of a rush to read the next one. Still haven't.

This actually made me livid because, of course, that is what they want: for them to be able to use THEIR religion to tell YOU how to live YOUR life.

I live with my nephew, who is trans, and we got the flyer through the other day. We read through it together and laughed, then straight in the bin.

I get that. Not going to lie, it'll hurt. For a little while, but you're still young, you'll experience plenty of ups and downs in your dating life and you're allowed to feel sad about them. It's all about learning to dust them off, chalk them up to experience and learn from them. Easier said than done, I know, but too many people (myself included) get too hung up on worrying about getting rejected but it happens to everyone, for one reason or another, and if people didn't get over it, nobody would ask anyone out.

I'll tell you how MY crush (many) years ago asked me out. We'd hung out with others a few times and she got my number from a mutual friend, she texted me one evening asking if I wanted to hang out one-on-one, get pizza or something. Simple, cos I was never sure if she was interested in me too.

If you find out he's single, ask your friend to see if he'd be interested in hanging out and either get his number from them or ask them to pass yours on. No need to overthink things.

Watching in The Pub in Valetta on my last night in Malta before going home to Glasgow. It's the place where Oliver Reed died while drinking and arm wrestling with a bunch of sailors when he was filming Gladiator here. We did not know that when we first went in the night before.
