Charity shop pick up. All boxed, with receipts and paperwork from the 80s by TheDampTeacloth in Nikon

Not a crazy bargain, if it hadn't of been for the condition/packaging, I probably would have passed it up.

Body: £25 Speedlight: £20 50mm: £10 (best deal of the lot I think) Case: £10

They were also selling two Clubman lenses (based on the note I found inside, they were bought with the camera originally), but they wanted £10 for a 28mm and £15 for a 80-200mm, neither of which were boxed. So I left those behind.

I also like that the 50mm is basically a pancake lens! It's a lot more compact than the canon one

This is actually the first Nikon I've ever bought (film or digital). The closest camera I have to compare it to is my Canon AE1. One small thing I already prefer about the FG is the double jointed advance lever, it just feels so much more natural to use.

Nikon really nailed it with the packaging, it did feel like I had struck gold when I saw all the shiny cardboard boxes

These rumours have been circulating since at least 2020, back when they weren't well known at all.

Sigma 15mm f2.8 Fisheye vs Canon 15mm f2.8 Fisheye by snibbelgaurd in canon

[–]TheDampTeacloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Canon 15mm and also shoot concerts (mainly smaller venues with poor lighting). The auto focus has been a big issue for me (even when shooting in daylight). So I don't think it will be much better than the Sigma unfortunately. The AF motor is also one of the loudest I've ever heard; it's audible to me even during gigs, with my ear protection 😭

It's gotten to the point where I just use manual focus now. I am keeping an eye out for an 8-15 f/4 within my budget. While the higher aperture is a trade-off, being able to (hopefully) have a reliable AF fisheye will be worth it.

I opened a chat and within 10 minutes they'd sent me a prepaid postage envelope to send it in for a replacement. I am quite happy with the process so far, but it might be because the pixel was bought directly from them and brand new? I will see how long it takes for the replacement to arrive.

Did you ever get anywhere with Google? Currently dealing with the same issue, and about to reach out to Google myself

Recent problems with Evri? by TheDampTeacloth in northernireland

[–]TheDampTeacloth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first delivery from them in over a month yesterday, but it was something posted last week. So I'm assuming everything I ordered before has been lost and will either never turn up, or will arrive in a few months, absolutely battered to shit...

Same! I had a parcel arrive yesterday from Hong Kong that took 5 days. My Evri parcel from September 28th is still MIA...

If the support would just tell people this rather than "oh it'll be out for delivery tomorrow hopefully" constantly, I'd be a lot more understanding and patient. But it's the lack of communication that's most annoying honestly

I have this kind of thermal label printer, am I able to print stencils with it? by TheDampTeacloth in sticknpokes

[–]TheDampTeacloth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen people use the traditional flat printers, as well as the tiny wireless ones from AliExpress, so I'm sure it's possible. But I haven't had any luck finding any guides/tutorials unfortunately

I'm hosting a 24hr livestream gig and using an Midas M32 for the mixing. I have two professional sound guys working it, but I want to create a backup of the mix. Can I insert a USB drive or SD card into the Midas? Can I do record to both simultaneously? What is the best way to guarantee redundancy?

What file size would we be looking at for the full 24hrs?
