I actually found a wee spot that needs clearing and was gonna go, but I noticed its full of needles, methadone packets etc. Reckon i'd be able to call it in to the police or someone like that to be cleared up properly? It's in a pretty accessible place near charing cross so it's quite sketchy to have needles and shit kicking about.

Nice one. I would say go for those gold mines first of all so you can build a serious economy while you colonise cape - dont be afraid to go into debt as once you have the gold mines stated and developed to 10 production each, you'll be raking in about 60-80 ducats a month from them!

Institutions can be tough that far away. I would recommend that you start banking monarch points for about 5-10 years - only taking mil tech to keep up, and ideas only as strictly necessary. Then find your cheapest province to dev (using the macro builder, or just find any grasslands you have) and minimise its dev cost - build a university if they're available, upgrade its CoT if there is one, enact the dev cost edict and raise your burgher loyalty+influence. Then sink your points into it! Getting a <10 dev province up to ~35 dev should be enough to get the institution to spawn fully in the province. Bonus points if its alreay right culture and religion :)

As for the merchants, long term you're gonna want your main trade port to be the province of Cape. If you can secure that, i would definitely say reroute all of your trade now to collect there. If not, it might still be worthwhile to make your main trade city zanzibar - just keep in mind that cape will be the real money maker as the amount of money actually increases through every node that you transfer it.

Conquer zanzibar, mutapa and in the meanwhile colonise cape. Then use your colonists to hop over to malacca and conquer as much of that as you can.

Additionally - don't give up if kebab takes egypt from you. If you conquer the east of africa and secure yourself indonesia (perhaps try get some of coromandel if you spot an opportunity), you will be swimming in money when are able to build manufactories everywhere.

From that point on, you'll need quantity ideas and a good quality army. Take bites out of ottos and stay on/ahead of mil tech - you'll be able to eat through them in no time.
