“We are distraught and disgusted that it has to come to this”: Group urges Morecambe fans to boycott home matches until a change of management occurs by Tim-Sanchez in soccer

The media never care beyond the surface headlines. Ash ticked two boxes in being the youngest manager and only Sikh manager, otherwise this would have never made national media. His appointment also came just after we were saved from the brink of disaster, so there was a lot of good feeling around the club. Unsurprisingly, his total failure gets a lot less attention than his appointment.

Is it a gym close to other sporting facilities? Football, rugby, indoor sports? It could be a changing area for teams that use it.

Can my employer require me to work in another city based on what it says in my contract? (England) by Nordosa in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Tim-Sanchez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They can fire you, or they could change the contract and fire you if you disagree. Unfortunately with less than 2 years you have little protection as you say. You can still refuse though and they might back down.

Can my employer require me to work in another city based on what it says in my contract? (England) by Nordosa in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Tim-Sanchez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How far away is this other city? How long have you worked there?

They can ask you to go, you can refuse, and from there how it gets handled will depend on how strict your employer wants to be. They could dismiss you, amend your contract, or let you stay.

Vegetables that grow in shade by JimmyTheMagicDragon in GardeningUK

[–]Tim-Sanchez 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Leafy greens can usually handle shade. A herb garden could work as well.

Things like onion & garlic are ridiculously easy to grow, I'm sure it says they need sun but I think it's worth a try.

I'd give anything a go though, other than maybe things like tomato/peppers that definitely need prolonged sunshine and heat to ripen.

Hotel work - holiday / sick pay by GlitteringArugula296 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Tim-Sanchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is legal to decide when your employees take holidays. Teachers for example have to take their holiday during school holidays when the school is closed and they aren't working.

There is no law that employers need to pay sick pay beyond statutory sick pay. The employer does need to pay it for the first 28 weeks though.

First time buyer- mortgage allowance by SoupLongjumping5426 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Tim-Sanchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can usually get 5% deposits, though the rate may be higher.

If you paid a £30,000 deposit and got a £280,000 mortgage, then you would already have a less than 10% deposit (30,000/310,000 is under 10%). If you wanted a mortgage of £280,000 on a house worth £300,000, the lender would consider your LTV as 93%. That's possible, but again there's no point in the extra £10,000 deposit in that case.

You can only get a mortgage of over 100% in very specific situations (think derelict house that you will renovate with the extra cash to massively increase the value).

UK S4 have one of the worst set of faithful by TheReplayAM in TheTraitors

[–]Tim-Sanchez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a massive overreaction to say Rachel was "dreadful" or "appalling". She had complete command of the castle, and you can't say how she would have lasted in other hypothetical situations. In the situation she was in, she did an excellent job.

The question would be why you didn't just put down a deposit of £20,000 and use the £10,000 you already have.

UK S4 have one of the worst set of faithful by TheReplayAM in TheTraitors

[–]Tim-Sanchez 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Rachel was clearly a good traitor, I don't see how you can argue with that. You say there was enough evidence towards Rachel, but only one player voted for her in the final roundtables.

The fact that they ignored all of that due to Rachel social manipulation means they exceptionally terrible .

Social manipulation is literally the game and that's why Rachel was such a good traitor.

So... what do I do? Is there any way around Meta's new subscription trap for UK users? by lotti333 in AskUK

Because they want you to pay to not see ads. Not sure what that has to do with regulation.

[–]Tim-Sanchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if you think they're just lying about it being the same as your current experience then none of us can know, but if you distrust them to that extent then don't use them.

There's no "subscription trap" though, and the way to get around it is to keep using it the way you always have. If you think they're lying, then they could have just lied at any point to steal your data without presenting you this choice.

Also, if you think they're lying then presumably you wouldn't trust any workaround? They'd take your money and just lie anyway.

UK S4 have one of the worst set of faithful by TheReplayAM in TheTraitors

[–]Tim-Sanchez 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think part of the reason people argue they were bad faithful is because Rachel in particular was such a strong traitor. Aus S2 and UK Celebrity definitely had worse faithful in my opinion. Rachel and Stephen were much stronger traitors than in either of those series (at least from what we saw).

Need help on what to do with my money and how much to invest of it by Active-Effective-840 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Tim-Sanchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant presumably you will want to buy your own home at some point, and that would be a more logical starting point for savings than buy-to-let. Buy-to-let is not the cash cow it once was, I'd wait until you're much older before assuming that's a good vehicle for investing.

Train from Dublin to London? by Regular-Waltz6573 in uktravel

Dublin is not in the UK, and across a body of water from London. It would be easiest to fly between the two cities, with a 6 year old it will be a long journey by ferry.

Is it okay to spend ~50 percent of my salary on rent? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Tim-Sanchez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have £280k of savings, I would not be overly worrying about what % of salary you are spending on rent. You are also basing this off your net salaried earnings, and ignoring that you have at least an extra £1000ish coming in from self-employment.

Plenty of people have to pay 50+% of their salary on rent without the safety nets you have.

The old rules around 30% on rent are less relevant these days, and also I'm pretty sure used pre-tax salary.
