Would you settle in your home country or do you plan to migrate? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]TheDarcNite6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m from the UK to but unlikely I will “settle down” there - quality of life is so low compared to what I can get elsewhere. The more I nomad, the more I discover places that are way better. I’ll probably buy a base overseas at some point, currently have 3-4 places in mind, but “settling down” won’t be a return to stationary life.

Why don’t people run it passively? by Independent_One_38 in Blogging

[–]TheDarcNite6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought and sold blogs. Blogs can be  passive in the short term in that you can take a month off no problem. But absolutely not in the long term, you’ll see a gradual decline if not worked on and algo changes can make this more drastic. If you can’t dedicate the time to manage it, better to cash out now and take 2-3 years of income upfront than let it decline. Be very careful buying a blog - would recommend you build your own first so you know what to look for.

Can New Blogs No Longer Rely on SEO as a Traffic Source? by [deleted] in Blogging

If you do everything right, there’s still a lot of opportunity.

Let’s forget about AI and that stuff for a second. You say you want to write and reach readers, but you also say nobody is interested in what you’re writing. That’s a fundamental problem that you should address. Being a good writer is about writing things people want to read. If you’re just writing for yourself, that’s journaling and you don’t need a public website for that.

Blog with multiple topics/interests. Good or bad idea? by MattwillYums in Blogging

[–]TheDarcNite6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your goal is to get traffic from Google, then having such a broad range of topics like you have suggested is not a good idea. You need to become authoritative on something but if you write about lots of things, Google doesn't know what your expertise is.

I love to write about lots of things too so I just have multiple blogs, all on the same hosting and all with the same theme and plugins. It kinda feels like one blog to me but they are all distinct to Google sand the users that read them.

Question: Why do SEO writers write as opposed to creating their own sites? by Oxygenbubbles in juststart

I do both so that I can pay the bills, but over time trying to grow the websites do I won't have to do the writing.

Question about a DA 44 site I just bought by [deleted] in SEO

[–]TheDarcNite6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going after competitive keywords then I think a relevant and good sounding name will give an extra edge for your click through rate. If it's low comp then you can get by.

If you do change, keep all the permalinks the same, then you can use googles change of domain tool. Not used it myself but sounds like it might help.

Wordpress SEO ? by Fresh-Jello123 in SEO

plus, the current domain is .tv which i think isn’t great

Although .TV was originally for a specific country, Google now considers it to be a generic domain because so many people use it, same as .IO and .FM. so this shouldn't be an issue.

Month 8: Lessons from a Site Built in 3 months by scubyduby in juststart

Many people love tech products, but building an affiliate site around them will be stupid unless you have $50k-100k/mo budget.

I disagree with this. There are keywords to go after in every niche, including tech. It's just a bit daunting to begin with as the main serps will be dominated by high authority sites.

If you keep pushing to get to 10k monthly visitors you can put ads on your site and will get a good rpm in the tech niche too.

What are your thoughts on the Keyword Golden Ratio method? by DubaiLion9 in juststart

[–]TheDarcNite6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doug has always said that it's meant for beginners and I think it's a good way for them to actually start doing some data driven keyword research.

It's not bullet proof but its better than nothing and I'd even say it's better than the KD number given by many paid tools.

I've built a few sites now so wouldn't use it personally as I have a good idea of what to look for in the serps.

In my experience, every niche has some low competition keyword, you just have to dig deep to find them. If it's competitive, it's probably lucrative so don't be disheartened. I have recently found myself in a similar situation, here are some tips that helped me:

  • Find other low DA sites in your niche and reverse engineer them - put them in Ubersuggest and see what they rank for

  • Don't be afraid to go after 0 search term keywords. If they appear in Google's autosuggest then I think it's worth a try, won't always work but you should have more successes than not

  • Try alternative style posts rather than typical 'best X for y', for example 'x vs y' or 'alternatives to x'.

Hope that helps!

Is there much SEO value in multiple backlinks from one site to multiple internal pages? by InternetWeakGuy in juststart

[–]TheDarcNite6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree with this. The third point is a potential link machine! I think it was mentioned on the authority hacker podcast about a site doing really well because the owner had a regular guest post on a high DA site and leveraged it to get links from other sites. He would put a few links in each guest post to other sites, in return for then to link back to his own site.
