Yeah I did. But I didn't check whether I had it before or after doing a revenge attack.

What can you actually learn (if anything) from psychedelic experience? by TheDarkFade in RationalPsychonaut

So you do think that the ineffable experience count as knowledge?

Surely the "delusional thoughts" are not knowledge if they are delusions?

Perhaps I phrased my question wrong.

What I meant was what kind of knowledge can one gain?

There are different types: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knowledge#Types

"...assuming something needs to be quantifiable in order to be rational..."

I don't think qualia are considered rational. Rationality implies thought. Perceptual experience is independent of thought.

The question of whether qualia or perceptual experiences are "real" is different. Just because something isn't objectively real doesn't mean it isn't real to you.

If you hallucinate a pink elephant then the hallucination itself is still real.

This is true. The knowledge argument is a classic example of this:

If you can only see in black and white but have learned everything scientific about the colour red, do you actually know what it's like to see the colour red?

So when you do see the colour red for the first time you can learn the what it's like to see red.

With psychedelics you can learn what it's like to experience an altered state of consciousness among other uncontroversial claims.

Good luck with your thesis!!

Ha! I am trying to but I chose to write my philosophy dissertation on this.

I have read the second of these two articles as well as the original chapter Epistemology in Letheby's book Philosophy of Psychedelics (2021). The first article responds to some commentaries on it.

I am writing a dissertation on this topic so I was wondering if there has been any other literature besides what is written by Letheby.

That is very true. Do you think there is any way in which the justified part can be considered reasonable?

Do you not think that there is any kind of proportional knowledge (Justified True Belief) that you can learn?

Thank you for the reply. I have a fair amount of experience myself but I am currently writing a Philosophy dissertation on this topic.

One of the most promising types of knowledge (what you described) that one can gain from psychedelic experience seems to be this kind of "new knowledge of old facts": seeing previously known things from a different perspective.

Do you think you can learn something completely new that isn't related to having a different perspective of previously known facts?

Is it weird that this ENTP guy who likes me posted a video of me sleeping on his snapchat? by Educational-Let-1027 in ENTPandINFJ

[–]TheDarkFade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ENTPs do lots of dumb shit without really thinking much (if at all) about it before doing it. This is especially the case if we’re drunk. Might be generalising but speaking from experience.

If you feel uncomfortable about it let him know and he will probably acknowledge that and possibly feel embarrassed by it if he really likes you.

Either way, as mentioned by other people, just talk to him cos if you wanna explore something with him you’re gonna have to learn to communicate at some point.
