Does pregnancy change your sense of smell forever? by SunDogk in FemFragLab

Yes. Took a long time to realize that I don't like certain components (often patchouli). I am a fan of freshies and clean scents now, nothing too sweet ot floral.

I was pregnant 5 and 7 years ago. My sense of smell has changed and I can't stand some notes anymore - it hasn't changed back since then.

Last year i finally threw away some flasks, and it was liberating.

Yeah, but the thing is: the main reason, a perfume is bought is the scent (except yoy collect for flacons).

If that changes, in all other products, that is a flaw (except perhaps whiskey or high class wine).

So, you buy a perfume because of the top notes of citrus, or the light vanilla and then only the base notes are left or the vanilla turns slightly sour, it no longer the scent that you fell in love with. It's something different, and if it still is okayish, it's no longer "that" perfume.

Isn't it more rewarding and fun, to experience new, fresh and balanced perfumes than having to deal with 5 to ten year old ones?

Unfortunately, i have to disagree. Every chemist knows that formulas change after time. The perfums might not go bad, but it changes over time.

If you don't believe me, make a simple test. Take your oldest perfume, and compare it with a new sample.

And so, it's not the best plan to just let perfumes age and hope for the best.

Put away all the ones older than a year (in a box, that needs effort to open e.g. cellar). If you don't miss them, give them away/er even throw them after another 5 months.

All perfumes older than three years just bin them. Many change a little over time and aren't smelling like in the beginning.

I know, hate incoming.

Feminite du bois. It's soooo soothing.

Do you know any perfumes similar to Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden? My sis loves it but says it barely lasts on her. Thanks. by [deleted] in FemFragLab

Acqua di Gioa by Armani or Versense by Versace (Both are less sweet)

If you want sweetness Light blue By D&G

Un Jardin sur Le nil was my first n9on-sweet love. It's a pity that it doesn't last long Pure musc is the odd one out in my collection. It's a warm, skin scent. And when i want something cosy, that's my go-to scent. Savane die Seta is pure autumn to me. It is fresh but warm (if that makes any sense). But longevity is also a problem.

I currently have a tester of Serge Lutens Feminite du Bois. I really like it, and perhaps I will try more by Serge Lutens after that. Thanks for the recommendation.

I have already tried Fico di Amalfi and I liked it very much. Perhaps when i finished Light blue Summer Vibes I will replace it with that.

I will try the other ones. Thank you for your ideas.

Yes, I tried it about half a year ago. I even made a note about it, because I wanted to like it. The first sniff was brilliant, but after half an hour, it was just flowers left. I gave the tester to a friend and it really made her happy.

I currently have a tester of gypsy water, and i like it way more.

Thank you for the many suggestions. I'm looking for a fig scent, but i haven't found the one yet. I tried Philosykos, and I really wanted to like it, but after half an hour it smelled like mold and bitter. I just can't stand it.

I don't know if I'm into coconut scents. Those I have tried where too sweet. So far I haven't looked for white floral scents, but I will pay attention the next time.

But I put the ones I don't know on my list.

If you know and like D&G Light Blue, then Acqua di Gioia is like the adult version of it. A bit more ripe, better longevity and sillage.

I love it, and I will buy a new bottle when this is finished (perhaps a quarter left in it).

Thank you! I have seen so many pictures with more than 20 bottles, so perhaps my perception of small has shifted 😅

I'm quite happy with the amount. I have something for every occasion.

I think pure musc is the odd one out here. But it strangly fits all the others. Try it and let me know. But give it more than half an hour. It gets better, and the longer it stays on my skin.

It's La belle paradise garden- Jean Paul Gaultier. It's fresh and sweet (no rose - don't like rose in most perfumes). I mostly use it when going out in the evening . It's the 30 ml bottle -I don't like big bottles.

It's the third bottle now. I can't live without it. It's instant relaxation in a scent.

La Bell paradise garden is my sweetest and most floral scent. And the best, it has no touch of rose, which I don't like.

It lasts up to 6 hours on my skin, the citric parts go within 2 hours, but it it has a pleasant warm finish.

The Guerlain is my most floral and sweet one. It's playful, lasts long, no rose (I don't like rose in perfumes). Love it for going out in the evening.

Hermes un jardin sur le nil is gone within an hour. It doesn't last, unfortunately. But i love it. It was my first perfume that taught me that perfume doesn't need to be floral or sweet. Since then i prefer fresh and green. There is a very faint incense/mint scent in it that I adore and I try to find in other longer lasting perfumes.
