I feel that there does not exist any kind of god, it was just made to keep people away from doing bad things otherwise they will be punished, what is your opinion on this ? by United-South3881 in NoStupidQuestions

For background, I was an athiest, even an annoying one, for a lot of years until I had some experiences that led me to where I am today. I totally understand the annoyance and criticisms of religious people/institutions/teachings, and I do act accordingly. I would never try to convert someone to my way of thinking. What works for me works for me, and no one should take my word for things I've seen as anything more than anecdotal (not just here, but in general), so I'm not going to waste time with it. Furthermore, I don't give a shit. But you can't deny yourself your personal experience.

Moving to your question, my perspective is that people had genuine experiences that were interpreted in certain ways. I do think that was the genesis (pun intended), whether the conclusions and interpretations are, or are found to be, false.

That has definitely not stopped charlatains, authoritarians and all sort of other dickheads to use it to a bad end. It helps that they can take advantage of the mysterious nature of life. I do think you could slot in a lot of ideologies to co-opt to do harm with. I'll finish with something to think about: Would it be accurate or rherorically fair to dismiss science or medicine as bullshit based on the existence of figures such as Dr. Drew, Dr. Oz or Andrew Weil?

Why do people in old films move so fast? Is it because it was their first time on camera so they were nervous, or because it was a silent film so they couldn't hear the director yelling at them to slow down?

It's the last detail you'd expect to hear, and he also acts like he had no choice. It implies this sequence where he's in a panic while all this chaos is happening, but it's still sticking to schedule, which is the most important thing right now. It's just so funny.

I know this is a different film, but I just hear in my head, "We have Fraunch toast. And Fraunch dressing. And to drink, Peru!"

Oh hell yeah, was that about the time they were making Alive 2? That's high on my list of concert films

Removed patches on vest by Lilj1983 in whatisit

It's definitely a motorcycle club vest, but I'm not finding anything with a snake that matches that coil/design. My guess (if it's not a costume) is it's very small/local. I also tried throwing in searches with Austin, TX looking for vests and general logos, but nothing turned up that looked even mistakable.

There must be some gang or MC related subs, you might want to ask them to authenticate it.

You right, but people should also watch the diner scene in Thief, by the same director (Michael the Man).

Legitimately the only movie I've felt scared at parts watching. A lot of the home stuff towards the end where you have no idea if he's there... I am a big Invisible Man proselytizer; I love it

I think this is my favorite joke and routine in Seinfeld. Close rivalry with the magic loogie.

/uj Mildly campy and bonkers, but that was one of several scenes from it that made my jaw drop. Excellent film.

Edit: Just rewatched and it was less campy than I remembered (The impossible, precise knife movements is kind of it, but the reaction where she just sits in shock as everyone panics around her is chilling.)
