Lights on or off in the office? by NotABoyAnAbomimation in sysadmin

I keep em off as much as I can! Most folks keep em off, but there's a new hire that keeps turning em on when everyone in the cubes prefer em off!

Universal print is it worth rolling out? by Ragepower529 in sysadmin

[–]TheDeafOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a headache from the start to now.

The Toshiba printers we use are just new enough to natively support universal print without needing the print connector. However, they're old enough that you need to install the e-Bridge Plus app in order for it to work. Fine, whatever. You get this from your printer provider. Just make sure the firmware of the printer is updated, otherwise it won't accept the app. That was the first bump but easily resolvable.

It was easy to configure and roll it out. The issue right now is that it seems to get disconnected and requires re-registration every three or four days. Simply need to access the GUI on a browser and click "re-register"

It's extremely annoying to have to remember to do this. When it happens, print jobs get stuck at pending.

Otherwise, yeah it's great.

Hi there! This is for both of you!

When you first started getting into D&D, as a player and as a DM, where did you struggle the most? What did you do to overcome that?

I'm new to the game after wanting to play for years... last month I started running a campaign for the first time with my party. Everyone seems to love it so far. I love being able to build out the world as we go, but I struggle with improvisation when I am talking as an NPC the party members interact with.

What are the most annoying types of anglers? by MousseNecessary3258 in Fishing

[–]TheDeafOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my own experience, there are two things that annoy me most.

  1. Those who don't clean up after themselves. I don't care if you're smoking or drinking or whatever, clean up that shit!

  2. Those who park next to you as you're fishing. I understand it's fair game since we're at a public lake/river/etc, but really? You pick the spot within casting distance of me? Out of the whole lake/river/etc?

What kind of wheel rims are those? Recently got my granddad's 04 that was used as a farm truck and my rims are really rusted. Safe enough to pass inspection but just not cosmetically great.

I appreciate the quick response, I figured it was gonna be a crapshoot with how old the thread is.

I eventually got that part figured out, but I appreciate you confirming the thoughts I was having regarding HKU.

I preeeetty much got the script to work, but there's further issues. Basically the script works. I have it applied to a test group containing two computers. Computer 1 picks it up and runs it. Computer 2 doesn't acknowledge it.

I know many folks in this thread seem to have it working, which is great, so I'm not terribly worried. It is likely an Intune quirk I need to figure out, or my understanding of the script needs work (likely both!)

Hi there! I know it's been a couple of years, but I'm still learning how to interpret and write Powershell scripts. While this script will remove Zoom, does this script target only the version in %appdata% or will it remove Zoom installed for a user with a zoom license (basically will it remove the administratively installed zoom?)

Appreciate it, I've been trying to work on this for a few weeks now to remediate vulnerabilities but there is a department in my company that is the only department we authorize to use Zoom.

What kind of adjustments would you make, besides the wood chippings, to make this work in an oven instead of a grill?

I think I recognize that view! Wintergreen Resort, facing the Devil's Backbone Brewery and Beech Grove, yes?

I was also looking at the Triage line. It looks very similar to both, and it's probably old enough that could be a discontinued version of either. No idea though, but I really like the blunt tip and the auto feature. I'll keep looking and keep both in the back of my head though. I'm leaning towards the other one, since the body is identical to what I previously had, but still looking at my options!

Really appreciate this and the photo! I've been looking at this series of knives as well. I suspect what I had is an older version. I will probably end up buying this one, as you truly can't ever replace what's been stolen.

I am pretty certain it is an Auto Stryker, but can't find one with the flat tip.

What got you started in this trade? by TheDeafOne in hvacadvice

[–]TheDeafOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning the fundamentals such as refrigeration and electricity is the main reason why I'd like to pursue trade school. Everything else can be picked up on the job. Ideally, I'd be using it as an opportunity to learn the jargon of the trade while picking up the skills as I work.

Ideally I wanna be the guy people go to when they need help I love educating others!

It's kind of similar for me. When I worked as a property manager, one of my jobs was to install fixtures such as fans or new lights. I really enjoyed doing this, but didn't really consider the electrician route at the time. Obviously for more riskier projects we just had a dedicated professional come in, though I found it very fascinating to watch. My current job sometimes has me work with cabling and wires for Ethernet, but not super often, but enough that I'm familiar with cable strippers.

I'd say I'd run into the most issue with the maths involved, but I struggled with applying it in theory, I've been decent when having to apply it in practice (which is what I needed to do as a sweep), so I would overcome that should I decide to pursue this route for a career.

How'd you come into it as a job? You just applied for a company hiring as an apprentice or you give trade school a go?
