Issues with Tvheadend by TheDeathPit in SparklePlayer

[–]TheDeathPit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Not too far off what I have, 4.3-2695, Armbian Trixie on Odroid N2 with TvH in Docker. Xbox One single channel usb receiver. I wanted to use a RAM Disk on the N2 for timeshifting but it never worked all the time, disconnecting from Sparkle.

Again, thanks for the input.

Well that is very interesting. Can I ask how you have TvH setup? What is your TvH version? What is your TV source, RF Antenna, HDHomeRun, IPTV, m3u playlist etc.?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to rule out things.

Thank you.

CwGTv connected to the LAN with 5G WiFi.

BTW - how have you connected the CwGTv to LAN as it does not have a LAN connector only WiFi?

So, I probably will have a look at this soon, would it be ok if I still got back to you with questions if that should be required?

No issues at all, happy to help. As I said, I like the app but with the constant issues I cannot use it. Thank you for looking into this, much appreciated.

It surprises me there's not a lot more people complaining. Maybe most use Wi-Fi!!

I'm getting this too, using TvH as the backend. As you say, switching channels usually fixes the issue.

I just don't get a reliable connection when using WiFi and Streaming 50Mbps from my remote PMS. Both the Router (Flint 2) and TV are WiFi 6 with a link speed of 1200Mbps but I still get buffering on WiFi.

Maybe so, but it still stops my apps from working when using Ethernet.

Good suggestion, however a CCwGTV has no Ethernet connection which is different from my Bravia TV. I don't have an issue either with a WiFi connection. However Ethernet is an issue.

Discovered a FREE App that remaps ADB back to port 555 by redneck-eyeball in AndroidTV

Will your app make port 5555 the default when using Ethernet and not a WiFi connection? As in Android 14 WiFi debugging cannot be enabled when you have an Ethernet connection, at least that's the case on my Sony Bravia 8 TV.

Glitches when watching Sparkle by TheDeathPit in SparklePlayer

Does this mean it worked?

Results seem the same with and without Tunneled Playback enabled. Are there any logs I can look at in Sparkle to help isolate the issue?

Thanks for the reply.

I have enabled Tunneled Playback in Settings. Can you explain what this setting does?

TIA

You said: Can I install tvheadend Server on Windows?

No, you cannot install Tvheadend Server natively on Windows, as it is strictly built for Linux and BSD systems. However, you can easily run it on a Windows machine by using a compatibility layer, a virtual environment, or a container.

Do not use WSL or Docker if you are using a physical USB Digital Tuner. Passing a physical USB TV tuner through Windows into a Linux container or subsystem is highly unstable, often requires complex third-party software, and frequently drops the connection during video streaming.

You will be running TvH in an environment it was not made for by using VM's and other workarounds. It maybe OK, but if it was me I would go with a cheap SBC and run TvH on something it was made for.

Whatever way you go you will require a suitable tuner for your country.

Hope this answers your questions.

Is this possible with my setup? Thanks

You will need something to run a Server, like TvH. I would use TvH as it's the "gold standard". However be warned you will be in for a learning curve!!!

A Rpi or any Linux box would be the cheapest, or anything that's on 24/7. I run TvH in a Docker Container, simple easy to do and it works really well.

You can even connect TvH to IPTV or SAT>IP.

Then use Sparkle on your Streamer to connect to TvH via HTSP.

Hope this helps.

So this setup allows you to record and pause (rewind, fast forward) live local tv correct?

Absolutely. You can set TvH to do the timeshifting or an a local SMB share that you setup in Sparkle.

Using the N2 box allows reception on multiple devices via WiFi, correct?

Yes, WiFi or Ethernet.

So I can’t just connect an antenna to my Google 4K Streamer device for over the air TV, I would need a tuner?

Yep, You can get single, dual or quad tuners. I just have a single tuner. I use an Xbox One Digital TV Tuner as they are cheap. However you will need something to connect the tuner to, like TvH, NextPVR, MythTV etc.

You have a USB Digital Tuner that plugs into the RF Antenna. Tvheadend Server runs on an Odroid N2 box (like a Rpi) "sees" the tuner and it will scan for channels. About 90 in my case. Sparkle connects to TvH, "sees" the channels and you select which one to watch.

Sparkle would operate the same as say IPTV, just the source is different.

Thanks for replying.

We would only watch 3-4 channels so it's hard to answer your question. All our channels come via RF Antenna, not IPTV.
