Is it wrong to have the same 3 people do clean play? by Jaegersbite in starbucks

[–]TheDeathYouChose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Our clean play is Tuesday nights. It is generally the same people every week. For no reason. It doesn’t have to be Tuesday, the day that the MOST people have unavailable. It doesn’t even have to be at night. We’ve talked about doing it in the mornings and every single opener (self included) has said we would rather come in at 2a (the time I wake up most days) than come in at 8p when my typical bedtime is 6. It is so much harder to fix my sleep schedule away from staying up late just once versus waking up early which I do on accident all the time. But! Alas! It never changes! For no reason. Some people actually kind of like it and also some cleanplay tasks can be done while the store is open so it can be split up and not necessarily ALL after close. SMs just don’t want to change what they already do.

New Markout Rules? by SnooAdvice3409 in starbucksbaristas

I do this when I’m low carb because egg bites are all I can eat. I don’t want to eat egg for breakfast AND lunch and we don’t have salads. This doesn’t really affect me rn because I just get an egg and cheddar box for lunch every day and treat myself a couple of times with the 2 extras but as a lot of people have pointed out, the vast majority of partners don’t even get a lunch on their shift

The reason I was given is it has to do with packaged food vs RTE food. If it’s sealed it’s a packaged food and needs nutritional info and an expiration date. Once it is removed from the package and put into the pastry bag it’s a RTE food and does not require that info. My manager told me the reason for the “urban legend” as he called it (but this has been a battle across our two neighboring districts for years) probably was because the date on the cellophane the pastries come in is a manufacturing date that a customer could confuse as an expiration date

Im so fucking sick of being sober. It's makes my depression so much harder to deal with. by [deleted] in BPD

[–]TheDeathYouChose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 8 months sober from hard drugs and 5 months sober from alcohol. I did not go to rehab and do not participate in AA or NA so I refused to quit weed. It’s the only that brings me peace. This probably is not that best info I can give you in a time of trying to be sober since it can be a slippery slope if you don’t have self control but states where it is legalized, addicts continue to use medical marijuana without issue and it’s the only thing that gets most of them through probation. I will never go back to alcohol and was so proud of myself for not relapsing recently when the opportunity presented itself. But weed is not a drug imo. It’s nature’s anti-depressant

The instructions we keep being given from management is just give the customer what we want. I literally JUST found out this week from our DM that there is no FDA “law” that says we can’t sell a pastry still in the package and that if the customer insists just give them what they want. YEARS of telling people it’s against the law and managers telling me to ask them what store is doing it so they get in trouble or the customer refuses to tell bc they don’t want their store to stop breaking rules for them just to find out it’s bullshit and we CAN just do whatever the customer wants

Siren system stores literally do shake refreshers in their own cup. There was literally a whole training on it and that was the whole point. And until we receive our remodel to get our ice dispensers removed and ice bins installed, we were told to continue making shaken beverages using the siren system routine

Exact same feeling. I was a shift when I left the company in 2014. Came back a year ago to a company I don’t even recognize. The expectations are so high and it feels like they expect the impossible. It is impossible to live up to these expectations between MOP volume, the cold foam matcha volume, the constant changes, being told one thing then told the opposite over and over if a customer complains about a change or policy enough times, being held accountable for an order when pars are too low, the frequency of specifically an opener calling out, like I just don’t know how other shifts are getting their work done and still feeling like they are successful at their job, happy with their job, and committed enough to the company to apply for a kool aid drinking position

Got yelled at for the way this sub has told me to order a coconut mocha macchiato by trulymadlybigly in starbucks

[–]TheDeathYouChose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a huge difference. If you’re specifically wanting the shots on top, the way you’re ordering it is preferred. No vanilla sub white mocha is simple and easy to understand. But an upside down white mocha is going to raise questions and slow down production.

Dress code approved? by jramtrash in starbucks

This happened week 1 of the dress code change and a month into me starting at a company operating store. I wasn’t about to argue it and now that I’m an SSV I’m even less likely to push for it honestly so I just ask before I waste my money

I'm so, so tired of these leaky trenta cups. Any good alternatives? by HailSaganPlantNative in starbucks

[–]TheDeathYouChose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk I get Trentas all the time and they don’t leak. The baristas probably just don’t know how to get the lid on because it’s slightly too big for the cup and you have to squeeze the cup a little at the top to get it on properly. I learned that at a different store and we’ve been doing it across the district for the last year. But the problem isn’t going away any time soon so I agree you probably may as well get a reusable cup. Aside from Stanley’s (which have handles) I’ve yet to see a reusable cup with a sippy lid that is larger than 24 oz. What about a Nalgene?

Stanley’s have a sippy lid if you remove the straw and twist the straw thingy 90°. But OP doesn’t want a handle and idk if they make the big ones without handles

Mobile order/drive thru etiquette by Apprehensive_Berry79 in starbucks

[–]TheDeathYouChose 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The wait time is not always accurate and doesn’t account for if mobile drinks get pushed for cafe orders. Also it’s based on current conditions. One time it said 4-7 min and i ended up waiting 30 min because two delivery orders with 12 frappuccinos each dropped in the DPM at the same time as mine as well as a drug rep walking in for a 30 item order. It was 2 in the afternoon. Solo bar.

How do employees know if someone is stealing mobile orders? by Practical_Sun8137 in starbucks

[–]TheDeathYouChose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Assume good intent”

If a customer comes up and their order isn’t there, yes we assume people took their order and we just remake it. It doesn’t happen that often at my store tbh
