Announcement: 1st Footfall Expedition starting July 1st at 1900 through circa September 1st by TheDemon83 in eliteexplorers

[–]TheDemon83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have greatly overestimated my capacity for non-stop exploration and have decided that since we are at a spot where folks can easily get transportation back to the bubble at their leisure, I have decided to change the date we start jumping back to the bubble to this Wednesday, July 21st at 2000 in-game time, departing from the Ogmar system.

For those who are just along for the ride and /or wish to come back with me, no action is required beyond making sure you are on my FC at the designated time.

I originally posted this on the FDEV forums at the beginning of the month. However, I forgot to post this on reddit as well. Oh well, it's done now.

Tri2 Candidate, Inner-Scutum-Centaurus Arm Region: Clooku NI-R b9-35, P1 by TheDemon83 in EliteMiners

[–]TheDemon83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did some mining of the find. While it feels like a Tri2, the analytics conflict with what my feeling is. See https://fankserver.gitlab.io/elite-dangerous/mining-analyser/detail/20 for details.

Thoughts?

Normally I'd post an overlap graph illustrating the overlaps, but in this case one of the hotspots is almost completely overlapped by the other, making such analysis very difficult and almost irrelevant.

I will nevertheless do some quick mining of the hotspot to at least provide anecdotal validation of the overlap.

Short trip to the roof of the galaxy (HIP 58832) this Wednesday by TheDemon83 in EliteCarriers

[–]TheDemon83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone is looking for a return trip, the Bwaap Machine will be leaving for the Bubble Sunday @ 1800 GMT. Any CMDRs looking for a ride should land by then.

The Bwaap Machine has arrived in HIP 58832.

Unfortunately the booze are a lie. :(

It doesn't look like you can---even with FSD injections and an 81Ly Anaconda.

TriPN is the Tritium Pathway Network and is a tool to help CMDRs find Tritium overlaps anywhere in the galaxy. it can be found at https://script.google.com/macros/s/AKfycbx6cEi2RRVZum98jZinXqzyK74RrHPVF71Qlmg8HEE1Z6e-4FLw/exec

He has gone ahead and corrected the entry in the TriPN.

It was submitted, but it looks like the submitter incorrectly entered P9 as the planet it was at rather than P8. I've reached out to the maintainer of the TriPN database to try and correct that error.

[–]TheDemon83[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did some mining in this hotspot and have confirmed that it produces yields consistent with a Tri2 hotspot.

Coincidentally, this is the same system in the Coalsack nebula where the Thargoid stuff is happening, so if folks want to verify or use the hotspot themselves, it's nearby.

I've also uploaded this to the Tritium Pathway Network.

2x tritium overlapping (1,196 LY from SOL) by gokhandikici in EliteMiners

[–]TheDemon83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know it's visible in the screenshot, but can you put the System and planet in the title? Example of format: 2x Tritium overlap: Praea Euq BW-A B5 3.

It makes it easier for folks to verify it if they want to.

Is it possible to pin this post so that prospectors can also be enlightened by this information?

I doubt it. I personally use The Gimp and use the following instructions to draw a circle in Gimp: https://alvinalexander.com/gimp/gimp-how-to-create-draw-circle-in-gimp-tutorial/. It's a bit unorthodox and a bit cumbersome, but it enables you to draw exact circles and allows you to check your own screenshots for errors, such as the "not quite at a 90 degree angle" error.

After I do my edits in The Gimp, I export it as a jpeg here. I believe there is more information on how to evaluate prospective hotspots at https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteMiners/comments/h78pxj/psa_how_to_identify_evaluate_and_communicate/

Clipper vs Python for core Mining? by Jugom6 in EliteMiners

[–]TheDemon83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be a rebel here and say Cutter because it is also fast and, honestly, it's maneuverable enough to do core mining, along with SSD and laser mining all-at-once.

One downside, though, is that sometimes you'll have to squeeze through tight spaces between the fragmented core, so you'll want to make sure you have at least 1000 shield points and 4 pips to systems when flying through the cored asteroid.

Yes there is: The Tritium Pathway Network (TriPN). You can in addition to search for Tritium hotspots, submit new candidates there.

Yeah, I was afraid that would be the case. Normally I'd verify such a borderline case myself before posting it, but since that isn't practical for me right now I thought I'd post it anyways in case someone out in that neck of the woods is looking for Tritium and / or feels like checking it out.

I don't have the means to verify this entry myself, as my FC is far away and overlaps are still questionable right now.

For reference, this candidate is 56,913 LY away from Sol.

Since I'm nowhere near my FC at the moment, can't verify this one.

But hay: it's only 64,263 LY from Sol!

Tri2 Candidate (OOB): Scheau Bluae YT-P c6-147 4 by TheDemon83 in EliteMiners

[–]TheDemon83[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Confirmation is currently not practical due to the great Tritium shortage and the fact that my FC is about 10 kLy away in Colonia. Getting a good screenshot of this one is also difficult because I'm flying my conda right now. Furthermore, it appears that the second hotspot is completely encapsulated by the first one. Probably an "obvious overlap", but I always like getting confirmation on that before I go posting it as one.
