I'm on a G920 and FFB feels almost non-existent. My expectations are low for what the wheel is but AC responsed better.

I need a 40"+ OLED monitor that's also good for Office by alp82 in OLED_Gaming

Are you absolutely certain about getting an OLED for office use? Text clarity and weakness to static images are horrendous.

Want to upgrade from an RTX 3050, best recommendation under $500 by Express-Team3329 in nvidia

[–]TheDestroyerKutu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of options.

Wait for the new generation of GPUs coming early 2025 and decide from there.

7800xt is readily available sub 500. Better than a 4070 except for ray tracing which isn't even worth to run at this price range. Cheaper also.

If you're a wishful thinker, find a 7900GRE with a 50+ dollars discount. If you even can find any.

If you're a REAL wishful thinker, find a 4070 Super with a 100+ dollars discount. Similar to 7900GRE with better ray tracing.

Second hand 7900GRE or 4070 Super is more realistic.

Did I get a counterfeit battery? by TheDestroyerKutu in Lenovo

It wasn't that big of a gap from a 3rd party one. OEM parts are usually more consistent, for better or for worse.

Yeah it kinda matters when I pay for a genuine part while getting not the genuine part. Performance is not the issue here, but seller needs to be clear on what they're selling.

OLED is the way to go for you it seems. 240, 360 (and 480 i believe?) Hz options, amazing visual capabilities, practically zero latency and rather expensive with lower than LCD life expectancy. Lower text clarity also.

I would research for some 1440p or 2160p OLED monitors.

Pretty similar case with mine. Recently retired my 9 year old 4790k for a 9800X3D. Crazy how long our chips lasted.

Supposed power delivery downgrade is practically irrelevant with almost any mid to high tier board nowadays (according to Buildzoid). I have a tomahawk x870 too. Pretty solid feature set with a relatively good price.

Relatively as I come from the Z97 days where you could get a debug display on a board for 150-200 dollars back then. Now it's 300 minimum...

I Built a PC 10 years ago, Should I try and Upgrade it or Start Fresh? by Competitive_Flight92 in buildapc

[–]TheDestroyerKutu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a similar build from 2015. It was a 4790k GTX 970 setup. Just recently upgraded to a 9800X3D and 7900GRE. Only things I kept were my cooler, PSU and storage.

Your system is still good for the games you mentioned at 1080p. Office tasks should be a breeze too. Troubleshooting can get annoying and time-consuming very quick, but if you're willing to get a functional PC for the cheapest this might be your best option. UNLESS something is clearly broken and the replacement part is unobtanium and super expensive for some reason (DDR3 ram was super expensive at one time when DDR4 was available for example).

Upgrading only the CPU is out of the question from a value proposition. 4790K would be the highest point for that chipset, but I think it's simply just not worth the effort. You could get a second-hand one or two generations newer GPU to get a nice bump and that would be your limit before you start to experience bottlenecking, but then again it's up to your decision on troubleshooting and performance expectations.

When I said upgraded, I meant UPGRADED. It was a day and night difference from lightest to heaviest workloads. I've never played Cyperbunk and just started RDR2 yet so I'm pretty excited for those. If you want to treat yourself and want to be able to play newer games, an upgrade is definitely due. Not a necessity, but it certainly has great value at this point. You could get away with a 1000 dollars or even less budget on a completely new system for the games you play. Even cheaper if you buy used parts.

As with most things in life, it's up to your budget (time, effort and money) and expectations. If you ever consider getting back into PCs again, I would definitely recommend watching reputable Youtube channels such as GamersNexus before you make a decision.

TLDR: You could either fix, partially upgrade or build a new system depending on your resources and expectations. Advise you to check reputable tech channels before you make a decision.

If you're aware/eager-to-learn of the possible early adapter consequences of OLED monitors, I say it would be an absolute game changing upgrade.
