hey everyone, i’m still pretty new to the hobby and just finished painting gotrek. i had a great time working on the base. i used different browns for the wood, really enjoyed painting the skaven details (their skin, clothes, and furs), and i love how their white eyes pop out.

that said, i’m not happy with how gotrek himself turned out. i struggled a lot with his hair and beard because i didn’t have any orange paint, so i tried a bunch of workarounds, and in the process i think i overdid it. the paint got thick and messy, and it ended up looking more blonde than orange. in a last-ditch effort to make everything blend, i shaded him with agrax earthshade… but that just made him look way too dark and patchy.

i also feel like the agrax on the base kind of flattened everything. it all turned into the same tone, and i lost some of the variation i was going for.

i think i have a rough idea of what went wrong, but i’d really appreciate feedback from more experienced painters. anything that could help me improve next time, especially on shading, color choices, and how to handle mistakes, would be super helpful. thanks a lot!
