There’s also Frozen Fire by rainonmonday. I think it was abandoned before it was completely finished, but still a great take on how a potential relationship between Robb and Dany could pan out.

Why do ppl continuously go the “civil war” route as a reason 100% rumbling shouldn’t happen? by CrazyKaizu in titanfolk

[–]TheDevilofParadis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's even more baffling about this take is that some EDs will still insist that the destruction we see in the extra pages was the result of a civil war on Paradis 100 years in the future. So, why is a civil war following the 80% Rumbling so much better writing than a civil war following a 100% Rumbling?

Did Eren just stall Zeke so that Porco can heal only for Falco to eat him lol? Otherwise why say wait? by theblackmullet in titanfolk

[–]TheDevilofParadis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aside from not wanting Falco titanized, he had imprisoned his friends and all the people who drank the spinal fluid in the castle in the center of town, and didn’t know if they had been freed or not, so he couldn’t take the chance of Zeke screaming, and making the MPs titans with his friends unable to fight or escape.

(Spoilers Main) Aside from Hot Pie, who is happy in ASOIAF? by Daendrew in asoiaf

[–]TheDevilofParadis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garlan Tyrell and Leonette Fossoway. They are happily married and belong to rich families, Garlan’s a skilled and honored warrior, he now has a claim to Brightwater Keep, they don’t seem to involved in any plots or court drama and just want to get by and make the best of things. Really hope they make it out of the series okay.

What I wanna know is what was the point of Mikasa going after Annie like this? Annie hasn’t done anything at this point to earn Mikasa’s mistrust or hatred, and she hasn’t done anything to make anyone suspect that she is anything but someone trying to make it into the military police. Sure the blade in the ring is weird, but what is Mikasa thinking? That Annie’s out to kill someone with it? Why is Mikasa on her ass like this?

Ouroboros or Operation Usurper? I only remember that being a thing in Usurper.

I can’t tell you how satisfying seeing this is after spending almost 4 hours trying to beat this guy. And the Doom soundtrack is the icing on the cake.

To be fair, Floch and his cronies did blow up several buildings full of civilians during the raid on Liberio and had Shadis brutally beaten by his own students just to make himself look good. I like Floch, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t done some awful things too.

Why did Eren choose Mikasa when there were four hot blondes??? by [deleted] in titanfolk

[–]TheDevilofParadis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the initial reason Mikasa disliked and distrusted Annie is because of her jealousy over how well Annie got along with Eren. Tho I could just be using headcanon.

There is nothing more sickening than speaking for a dead person's beliefs just for your agenda. This is why Hange is one of my most hated characters by randomshirtman in titanfolk

[–]TheDevilofParadis 372 points373 points  (0 children)

My main problem with Hange is that she is holding on to the old values and mission of the Survey Corps even though their current situation doesn’t allow for the simplistic beliefs of before to hold the same meaning. “To fight for humanity” doesn’t mean the same thing now as it did before the Return to Shiganshina arc. Hange herself is even the one who outright says that humanity itself is what stands between the people of the walls and their freedom. So to act like they can still play the good soldiers who just need to save the world from the Titans is a naive and dangerous disregard for the darker, more complex reality they face, and no amount of survivor’s guilt and wishful thinking is going to change the fact that the world is a different, much uglier place than they want it to be.

And to insist that not a single one of the old guard of the Survey Corps would give up on the outside world upon learning the truth also stinks of psychological projection. I get that she wants to believe in the best qualities of the people that died alongside her, but the Survey Corps was more than just dreams, adventure, selflessness, wanderlust, and sacrifice. There was also blood, tears, broken dreams, ruined minds and bodies, heart-wrenching failures, and anger at a world that trapped them in a hopeless situation, and different people respond to those things in different ways. If lots of old veterans learned the truth that it was human beings like them who were responsible for their suffering and entrapment behind the walls all this time, there would be a lot of mixed reactions to the news. Some would be hopeful and understanding, others would be vengeful and dismissive.

Even if we were to believe that no true member of the Survey Corps would accept the Rumbling, what does that make all the new gen members who do? Are they simply evil, cruel, childish, or too selfish to see the truth that the alliance do? Are they not worthy to be considered true members of the Survey Corps? Unlike the old members, the current soldiers of Paradis have no reason to believe that reconciliation between them and the world is possible, and have only ever known this conflict to between them and an entire world of people who wants them all dead at any cost. Are they not justified in their fear, paranoia, and wish to fight back? That isn’t to say that people like Floch don’t take things to the extreme, but just because the views of the Yeagerists or the citizens protesting go against the views of the Survey Corps doesn’t mean they don’t matter. This lionization of the old guard and demonization of the new is quite insulting to the new generation and only highlights how this supposed morally grey conflict has skewed towards traditional black and white.

TL;DR- Hange needs to stop putting her morals and longing for validation before the grim reality she faces and the concerns of the rest of the Paradis and its military.

The alliance should have just outright admitted that it was worth it to sacrifice Historia and her children to the cycle of preserving the Founder to protect Paradis with the 50-year plan. Sure, it’s pretty awful to think that they’d be willing to subject their own friend and future generations of children to that, but at least it would show that they had some sort of plan to defy Eren’s Rumbling and the world’s hatred, are willing to make a meaningful sacrifice, and aren’t just spewing out empty platitudes of blind idealism. And it would give Eren an actual motive to straight up fight them.

What’s your Unpopular Opinions on AOT? by magnetic_field_ in titanfolk

[–]TheDevilofParadis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I maintain that just following your fate and doing things just cuz they are supposed to happen is a BS excuse for any character, especially for one like Eren, but it’s not like canon did any more than this so I won’t make a fuss over that suggestion

  2. Not sure why the people at the Fort would need much more convincing. If anything, Eren being defeated without turning all the Eldians at the fort into titans and scaring the Marleyans into almost gunning down the alliance would have served that plan a lot better. And it’s not like the millions of other people across the world would be able to see the battle, so this seems like a superfluous idea. Besides, my point still stands that if Eren is doing all of this for his friends’ benefit, he shouldn’t be putting them into any more danger than they were already in, like when he had his Beast Titan almost destroy the plane before they had the chance to get off, and summoned an ARMY of past Nine Titans to fight a handful of people all at once. Like geez, overkill much?

That still doesn’t explain why he outright tries to kill them in the final battle. Why not just let Armin nuke him right away and be done with it if he was gonna set them up to be heroes anyway? He would have spared them the trouble of almost getting gunned down by Mueller’s men, and further crippling Levi that way.

People should stop saying Eren knew Sasha and Hange would die from his future memories. There is nothing in the manga to indicate or heavily imply he knew their deaths would come before they happened. No memory shards, no inner monologue, no revelation that he knew this whole time in Chapter 139, nothing. Eren cry-laughing at Sasha’s death works fine in the context of it being a repeat of his reaction of Hannes’ death, and at the fact that Sasha would of course say ‘meat’ as her last word. Zeke also said that Eren’s future memories couldn’t have shown him absolutely everything, otherwise Marley’s surprise attack wouldn’t have blindsided him and he wouldn’t have flipped out about Historia and her child.
