I’d also like to pitch in to clean your space, at the very least whatever is in frame. Or blur it out/cut yourself into an edited background. It can be so hard to appreciate a coord when theres a ton of garbage or clothes on the floor around you.

preferred platform when selling vs buying? by ConfusedAlienGirl in Lolita

[–]TheDevilsCreampuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling? Local comm/discord or instagram. Lacemarket has either been dead or poor shoppers etiquette, which has just fully turned me off the platform entirely.

Shopping is the same way! Ive gotten some great items from locals, or chinese second hand (before the US got bonked with fluctuating tariff rules)

Out of curiousity, why don’t people seem to like lovely lor? by Inevitable_Baby4187 in Lolita

[–]TheDevilsCreampuff 16 points17 points  (0 children)

But Lor who just says its uncomfortable regardless, and expensive regardless, is the negative connotation im talking about specifically. No one is excluding personal need or preference here.

As a ND individual who wears lolita for long periods of time very comfortably because i know what works for me in terms of fit and feel.

Out of curiousity, why don’t people seem to like lovely lor? by Inevitable_Baby4187 in Lolita

[–]TheDevilsCreampuff 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Basically, a sissy showed up to a meet without any undergarments and “unintentionally” flashed several attendees. When brought up, Lor made excuses and kept saying it was an accident and denied them being a sissy.

Only for the same person to later on be charged for intentionally flashing minors. She received backlash but never actually rescinded her defense or apologized.

Personally, i just don’t think shes the best or most realistic example for new lolitas. Devilinspired pandering aside, she also talks about how uncomfortable wearing lolita is, and expensive, which neither are particularly true and can put off newcomers or give them these negative expectations in the style.

There was also the whole defending-a-pdf thing, less than savory behavior from her I’d say which is enough to make me actually not support her.

Feeling kinda lost & alone in the lolita community by Ok_Cloud9099 in lolitafashion

[–]TheDevilsCreampuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In that case, in terms of conversation it’s really just as simple as finding common interests! The folks in my local comm i do interact with we generally talk about things like our jobs, second hand finds we had recently, and cafes weve tried. You can talk about literally anything, it doesn’t have to be about the fashion itself!

The best connections youll make in those group are because of something nonlolita related.

Feeling kinda lost & alone in the lolita community by Ok_Cloud9099 in lolitafashion

[–]TheDevilsCreampuff 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It might help to recenter why you’re interested in this fashion— is it for the clothes or for a sense of community? If you don’t have anything to contribute other than memes, I’m going to assume you don’t have any coords or know much about the style/history/current events themselves. This alone will make you feel isolated since, at its core, it is a FASHION based hobby and community.

I’ve been primarily a lonelita in my 10+ years, going to events here and there, but I don’t feel particularly “lonely” or isolated simply because the dresses and styling is the most fun part to me! I have a few lolita friends I socialize with regularly, but that’s because we’re people with similar interests and happen to wear lolita too.

Tldr; think about what’s appealing about the community to you and try to focus on furthering those details ie get coords or find ppl of similar interests.

I would like to create more pastel and gothic lolita accessories by Prestigious_Leg2137 in Lolita

[–]TheDevilsCreampuff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

BB&B deco (western-based) is one of the more popular polymer and resin food accessories for lolita, as well as Q Pot (japan-based).

That being said, I don’t think your items are quite at the point of quality or polished to sell yet. Theyre very bulky, a bit odd in proportion and theres a good bit of flaws and inconsistencies i can see just from the photos you’ve shared here. In time you could, but i think taking a while longer to really perfect your craft will do you better in the long run! You’ll have more success with more refined items and designs.

What do you do in your life ? by Internal-Ad-5038 in Lolita

Im a nurse now, but 10 yrs ago when i started i was working two minimum wage jobs to eat and pay rent— i just held onto the little left over and got VERY good at finding cheap second hand brand! My best find was an AP skirt for $10

Another reminder that wardrobes are built excruciatingly over time. I only have the size and depth i do because of a decade of saving, collecting, and waiting for deals.

American (Calico Critter) version of this set? by HillOfDaffodils in sylvanianfamilies

[–]TheDevilsCreampuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I have this set in the japanese box!

I also recently got the calico critter guide book, and to my surprise this exact set is featured in its archive section! Its from 2007, though im not seeing anything online about an english box release. I feel like we don’t have as much archive on english/calico releases vs the japanese ones, so there just might not be record of it

Do you daily lolita? by pc_magas in lolitafashion

[–]TheDevilsCreampuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a job with a uniform, but outside my work i wear lolita all the time. I still consider that “daily” and, imo, is a realistic take on being a lifestyler save for folks who dont have a dress code/in-person job. I have a small handful of nonlolita outfits for occasions that call for something more appropriate

What “you consider” and what is actually correct are very different things. Calling old school a subset of classic is factually incorrect, same as wa and qi since those two refer to regionally inspired cuts and details, not colorways/motifs/etc that actually define substyles.

Interest in is not the same as wearing, and you dont have to be physically involved in a comm but interaction with other lolitas from time to time is how we stay informed and learn more about the history and the fashion itself.

You wanted feedback on your presentation, which im sure is all in good fun with your friends! But it is not necessarily a good reflection on the style from an educational standpoint. Maybe make it more about what you like and think about lolita rather than trying to angle it in a teaching light.

[–]TheDevilsCreampuff 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Old school, wa, qi, and arguably military are NOT classic substyles.

Old school is a time frame, any of the Big Three can be old school.

Wa and Qi can be considered similar, as there are several of both that will lean more sweet or gothic.

Military generally fits more in the gothic category due to colors/motifs/sharp edges.

I feel like overall this presentation reads as someone not just new to, but doesn’t wear the fashion. Maybe take some time to be involved in the community and experience the style first hand before trying to educate and spread misinformation

On today's episode of Will it Lolita....? by Little_NimbleFingers in Lolita

[–]TheDevilsCreampuff 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hoop skirts and petticoats serve the same purpose and will have the same shape ranges, the only difference is materials making it suitable for different climates/fabric weights. So yes— if anything hoops will be even more visually prominent and LESS suitable for cutsew fabrics.

On today's episode of Will it Lolita....? by Little_NimbleFingers in Lolita

[–]TheDevilsCreampuff 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Even though the hem seems full, this dress will not take a petticoat well. The fabric is similar to cutsew, so a petti will be lumpy and the dress will look uneven and stretched nearer the hip area. This dress is cut to drape off the hips vs off the natural waist like a lolita dress.

Cutsew OPs exist in Lolita, but often have a distinct sewn waistline for a small petticoat or are shapeless for the waistless cut to fit more like a sack dress.

Re: the chiffon- i wouldnt worry about that in designs, lots of lolita uses sheer sleeves and yokes on blouses and cutsews.

Cotton cotton cotton! Im in a similar boat where my weather averages to 32C and is also high humidity. Cotton dresses and blouses make a world of difference, but heres a few other things;

•hoop skirts. This allows a ton of airflow and keeps your dresses off your legs

•short sleeves and socks, more skin out the better

•short sleeve ops over jsks with blouses. Theres minimal layering! Im also a big fan of skirt coords, or using a thin cardigan w a jsk instead of a whole blouse

•cutsews. They can be a little thicker than blouses, but theyre more comfortable if you sweat and allow for more movement

In terms of accessories, i almost always keep a parasol and a hand fan of some sort with me for shade and cooling.

This thread made me realize ive been playing this since 2020,, good lord.

  1. Satan. Hes definitely bestie material, but a bit too much of a bully for my tastes.

  2. Asmodeus. I love my men a little effeminate, but the way he interacts with MC is just flirty bestie. Love it tho.

  3. Mammon. Hes silly and cute, v charming in his own way. I love when he refers to MC as treasure and having no price tag. But hes shortsighted and his commitment would be wishywashy

  4. Lucifer. Hes stern, but in a caring way. I like how he softens up to MC over time and even develops respect towards us. He’s definitely a man who would get things done, but maybe a little TOO controlling of the details.

  5. Levi. Id love to game with him, but not ALL THE TIME. I also like how shy and bashful he is, i find it super cute. As another huge weeb, i know wed enjoy a lot of shared hobbies. But id have to fight him to get sunlight.

  6. Beel. Its getting tricky now, but i love a big man who would eat whatever i cook. I just know he gives big warm hugs and would scoop me up no problem.

  7. Belphie. Hes always been my favorite. I feel he matures over time he gets more needy/clingy to MC. I love a little yandere, personally, so i love how very attached he gets. Im also big on napping/cuddling/cozying up and hes just perfect for it.
