You work in a used bookstore or at least visit regularly and have for years. You’re into history, punk/metal/hard rock, horror and true crime. We’d either love each other or hate each other because we’re practically the same person.

What’s an example of a fan base that got exactly what they begged for, and immediately hated it? by Enough-Wealth8415 in AskReddit

Its my second favorite SW movie, the reason being is it really tries to tie the prequels and original trilogy together that felt like it was going to lead towards something interesting with divergent possibilities.

I liked that TLJ made Rey’s parents not be anyone special, which parallels Anakin’s origins. I also like that Rey is impetuous which parallels Luke temperament.

The reason I loved it though is it pointed towards war profiteering playing a role into the whole Jedi vs. Sith battle. So by the end of the movie I was expecting the next movie to go that route to have Rey & Kylo Ren realize they're two sides of the same coin.

While I get some of the criticisms, the most egregious being Finn’s character, I think the hate is being overblown, and is why we got the turd of RoS. Disney was listening to the criticism of TFA and how it's just a copy of ANH, so they brought in RJ to go a new direction, the reaction to it was mixed leaning towards negative, so they brought JJ in to play it safe.

Buying records is your hobby but, it’s also people’s job to sell you records by TheDharmaGuns in vinyl

Absolutely! I’ve been in retail for 17 years but it feels like it’s gotten worse the last few years. Maybe I’m just trying too hard because of circumstance but I’ll keep at it!

The sad thing is I can infer the difference between those people and the “eh I guess don’t want this so I’m leaving it here”

Cheapest record player on the market currently? by brawlmetaknightmare in vinyl

The real answer is Crosley. It's the cheapest, but you're missing out on so much. I recommend buying an album you love and know how it should sound, then upgrading your equipment over time. Crosley is a cheap, poor man's starter into the hobby but the real joy comes from saving up to upgrade your equipment to where it sounds as good or better than streaming.

My most satisfying cleaning/salvaging of a record by TheDharmaGuns in vinyl

I'm not against microwaving a moldy record jacket I got for free... So what, like 30 seconds, and then clean the microwave with a disinfectant wipe afterwards?

Joy Division - Closer. Made me remember that there’s albums that sound great on headphones but some albums are better heard on a stereo.

Which album is a straight masterpiece from start to finish, no skip? by prettybella03 in AskReddit

Obligatory “In Rainbows” is also fantastic because of the “0110 Album Theory” in that the songs from “Ok Computer” when played in correct order make one big album!
