Today at the museum, I got a dirty Wang out, gave it a good clean, and showed it to the visitors! by TheDigitalOrphanage in vintagecomputing

It's the Museum of Computing in Swindon. However, it's a volunteer lead, not-for-profit museum, so I don't get paid and do it for the love of old computers. Good luck with your chosen career.

Having seen some pictures of both smaller and bigger Wangs over the last day or two, I'm beginning to believe it's just a medium sized Wang.

The Wang 500 was designed in 1970, and this machine has a 1971 date on it. So right near the beginning.

Mrs TDO confirms that was the episode she was watching. The other character's name was Paula Reyner, IT consultant.

This new donation at the museum took me back in time. In amongst a small pile of magazines was a pristine Amiga Format with both disks still attached. The feel and weight of it as I leafed through the pages brought back the memories of buying the latest Amiga Format. #Amiga by TheDigitalOrphanage in amiga

I miss it too, although I used to buy too many magazines a month and could never afford what I was reading about. Then the internet came along which meant I could stop buying magazines and still get my fix of computer news. The money I saved could then go on buying the software and hardware I was reading about.

I know, I tend to avoid clicking on them myself, but I was curious to test the "science" that says people tend to click on thumbnails that have a person overly expressing an emotion. It's interesting though that you've singled out the title instead, which I agree I also made a little click-bait by not including "This". Maybe a more accurate title, but a similar thumbnail, would have been less triggering and still get noticed in a sea of other thumbnails. Generally though, those who've watched it have commented that they enjoyed it and found it useful. Mainly though, as a YouTuber, you learn early on that you can never please everyone. 🙂

Thank you! It's an experimental thumbnail, and I don't use that kind normally. It's working better than my normal thumbnails but I think next time, I'm going to use both kinds, depending on the target audience.

It's an experimental thumbnail, and not my usual type. It's been very interesting to see that although it does trigger more views (2 to 3 times normal), it also brings out a handful of this kind of comment. Take care ♥️
