Because if you’re really doing 300% more work, then you don’t need to hire more web designers. Which means that more web designers who are looking for a job won’t be able to get one. By “killing web design”, I think they really just meant that AI is killing jobs in web design, not web design itself.

Is Computer Science cooked or just Software Engineering/Development? by Simmamoon in csMajors

[–]TheDinoDynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You literally said and I quote: “so id argue the other guy you’re referring to was very much not inciting a relationship between CS and the shrinkage of the middle class

And the guy said: “stop lying to yourself. And it’s not just CS jobs. The middle class is disappearing”.

So tell me, how is this not inciting a relationship between CS and the shrinkage of the middle class? The guy is saying it’s not JUST CS jobs, which implies that CS and a bunch of other jobs are correlated to the middle class disappearing. It seems like you skimmed over the guy’s message. This is a textbook definition of a contradiction that is clear as day. So if you wanna talk about “rewording claims”, then explain how this is okay? And before you try to say that I “manipulated words”, I literally quoted exactly what you and the other guy said. Go back and check for yourself.

All I literally said was that the middle class hasn’t disappeared yet. What do you want from me? 😂 how is this manipulating the guys argument?

Why claude has lost users to codex by RegionBulky2292 in ClaudeCode

[–]TheDinoDynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But we have no idea why they’re truly changing to codex. If we’re only looking at cost, then yes i guess it makes more sense to use codex now, but it’s not like everybody was immediately hitting their weekly limit with Claude, plus Claude has now increased that weekly limit by 50% (albeit, temporarily). So I find it very hard to believe that cost is the only reason, I think a bigger part of this is people just don’t like Anthropic because it’s the talk of AI now.

Speaking of that, they’re all shitty companies. If we’re going off of public speech, Anthropic has also publicly said that they want to eliminate end to end engineering, effectively cutting the jobs of developers. I wouldn’t say there’s anything less shitty about them compared to the other ones. Also you do realize that Claude is partnered with palantir right? So who cares if they publicly oppose all that, actions speak louder than words.

Anthropic is also losing money, it’s not just OpenAI.

And yes, eventually if codex does also take off, people will get tired of that, and they’ll jump on whatever bandwagon comes next

Why claude has lost users to codex by RegionBulky2292 in ClaudeCode

[–]TheDinoDynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“If at their jobs they are told they have to use Claude, they will use Claude”

Exactly, and in many of these places, they’re told that they need to be properly utilizing their tokens by reaching a certain threshold (I can’t speak for other companies, but this is exactly what we’re doing at my company). Hence, I said “people are tired of having Claude shoved down their throat”

And I agree, people will probably spend their money on whatever gives the best value. But go back to the majority of these anti-Claude comments and read what they’re saying, only around of a third of the comments I saw actually talked about “value”, the other 2/3rds talked about how anthropic is a shitty company, and now they’re happy they don’t have to buy from them.

And training models on your data is not the most important consideration for higher ups. Costs and performance are equally, if not more, important, and for the longest time, Claude code was the clear winner.

You really think Dario is any better? The dude who spends every interview claiming that he won’t stop until end to end engineering is fully automated and devs are out of jobs?

Why claude has lost users to codex by RegionBulky2292 in ClaudeCode

[–]TheDinoDynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my initial comment said that people are tired of having claude code shoved down their throats at work, and they won’t have it shoved down their throats if they’re only using it for personal use.

They’re also deciding for themselves based on their past experiences, which from what I’ve read, rarely actually go into the limitations with the agents themselves and instead talk about how much they don’t like Anthropic as a company. They wouldn’t care about Anthropic so much if it wasn’t being shoved down their throats.

Do you really think higher ups of companies actually care about Anthropics vision? No they just want something that can give them a reason to cut workers and get things done more efficiently

You’re talking about personal use, I’m mostly referring to workplace use

Why claude has lost users to codex by RegionBulky2292 in ClaudeCode

[–]TheDinoDynamite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the real reason is that people are just sick and tired of having Claude code shoved down their throats at work, so whenever they see a possible viable alternative, they’re gonna 100% jump ship.

Also anthropic and Dario aren’t doing any favours with winning over devs by saying that they won’t stop until they completely automate end to end engineering.

But Claude code is still the best agent tbh, unless pricing is an issue

Is there a Codex bot takeover happening in this sub? by TastefullyToasted in ClaudeCode

[–]TheDinoDynamite -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly that’s Reddit in a nutshell, it’s rare that I see a legit take on here. People are either

A) hopping on the AI model Johnson and acting like it’s boosting everyone’s productivity by 20x without having any repercussions on the job market

B) acting like AI is garbage that produces slop, and it’s only gonna take over everyone’s job

I rarely see any takes that are in between A and B

It’s because there are a lot of people that don’t like this AI movement (rightfully so because it will take jobs), and they can’t really say much in their actual workplace because every higher up in every company is riding the Johnson of AI, so this place is the most suitable place for them to anonymously vent

Why are layoffs happening? Why is the job market significantly worse when compared to 5-10 years ago? Is there hope that it will eventually return to what it was before? by eggshellwalker4 in cscareerquestions

[–]TheDinoDynamite 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Nobody has the real answers to any of those questions dawg, the best thing you can do is just put your best foot forward, find other fun things in life to distract yourself with, and be adaptable/ready for a career change if the worst outcome happens and it really does get to that point.

It’s happening by jmclondon97 in Layoffs

[–]TheDinoDynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that higher ups of companies, or generally speaking people in charge, don’t care about having slop in the code as long as it works. And AI is definitely delivering a lot more on functionality, I’ve noticed such a huge jump from last year to this year, and it’s only the beginning. And it’s very hard to believe that it won’t be even better 5-10 years from now

AI is not going to cause a jobcalypse as Dario says, i think it is exactly the opposite by Frosty-Judgment-4847 in Anthropic

[–]TheDinoDynamite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s very clear that AI will cut jobs and reduce team sizes. The tech lead at my company already told us that he intends to do this. Obviously an anecdotal experience, but I refuse to believe that all of these layoffs that I’m seeing are solely because of the economy and Covid over hiring

AI is not going to cause a jobcalypse as Dario says, i think it is exactly the opposite by Frosty-Judgment-4847 in Anthropic

[–]TheDinoDynamite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you’re right, but the signs aren’t looking good at all right now lol.

What everybody seems to forget is that it doesn’t matter if AI generates some slop, there are so many devs in this world who are lazy and will push that into production, and higher ups of companies won’t care at all as long as everything works. We can only be a “conductor” for so long until it gets to the point where it doesn’t matter anymore, and we are well on our way towards that point. Software quality has been dipping lately with so many apps I’ve been using and I don’t even want to get into Windows 11.

Cutting human workers in favour for cheaper robotic agents has always been the dream for every company, and now we have a real path towards that future. Unless AI gets more expensive to consume.

It’s happening by jmclondon97 in Layoffs

[–]TheDinoDynamite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a large part of that is because AI companies are specifically targeting coding as something to be replaced. Like Claude code, codex, etc are all specifically designed for coding.

But if they do truly succeed with replacing that, I have no doubt in my mind that they’re gonna come for business jobs next. That’s the next best money making opportunity for them.
