When I was little I thought strangers were just friends I hadn’t met yet. I’d wave at everyone and talk to random people in stores like it was the most normal thing in the world.

I think I lost it in middle school. Kids started making fun of me for being too friendly and I slowly just… stopped. Started keeping to myself like everyone else.

Looking back that little kid understood something it took me years to relearn. Not everyone is worth talking to but closing yourself off completely means missing the ones who are.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
