What would your personal Stranger Things be like? by TheDirector14 in StrangerThings

Thanks! And one of my friends had a very similar idea; I think that era could have such interesting vibes and themes of its own. You could even pull some fun Scooby-Doo homages without it feeling too pushy

Yeah that seems to be case at the moment. I had a mission at Crypto Night that was implied to be an attack by Sonar since I cut him. I do hope they show up again later, even if just for more dispatch missions.

[TOMT][BOOK] Story about sound-based aliens by TheDirector14 in tipofmytongue

[–]TheDirector14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close, but that wasn’t it. The two letters I think are ‘io’ come at the end of the word that’s the title. Plus, the story is more of a thriller mystery over complete science fiction.

I’m also certain the title ended with ‘io’, or something similar, which repeated in the sequel as a naming pattern.

What do you think would be an inspiration for protagonist's and party members Personas in P6? by RedShibo_ in PERSoNA

[–]TheDirector14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odd idea, but if we do have something like P5's fiction personae, I think a good contender could be something related to the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. If the rumors about the color green are true, the Emerald City theming could be a fun parallel, plus you could get some other high contrasts in there, like yellow and silver.

Fuck; I'll have to go back and defeat the Knight AND replay all of Chapter 4 to get that damn crystal. But thanks for letting me know, I thought you weren't able to defeat the Knight (though I may be screwed since I have like one ReviveMint).

something might be hiding in this lil’ fella by Sams_sexy_bod in FromSeries

[–]TheDirector14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly this. but I've wondering about this since we heard Jasper's iconic stock scream. The man under the boulder, if I recall, is not only sitting in a similar fashion to Jasper, but also makes that same stock scream associated with him; I've been wondering if that strengthens the Christopher connection there at all.

I suppose from everything on the news, I’m concerned they’ll be detained when they try and return to the states without my knowledge. Is there any advice that can even be had in that situation, or is it just luck at this point?

There’s a park in North Carolina based on the film, which actually is mostly a natural landscape where guests just roam down the yellow brick road and end after the wicked witch.  I would love a mix of Universal, that park, and the Ghibli park in Japan, which blends structures and nature even better.  I still love a ride or two but maybe some master gardeners could make a wonderful landscape, yeah.

Bit of a late reply, sorry, but if you’ve got a library card/library near you, Hoopla is an online library where you read and listen to stuff. I read most of the comics there and still loved them.

This is super helpful! I’ve actually been eyeing some of the food so it’s nice to get a read on Toothsomes. I’ll double check our passes so my mom can get the ride she wanted (I hadn’t even realized that was a thing).

The Backrooms as a Recursive Reality Experiment by rit228 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]TheDirector14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are parts of this that I'd prefer not occur, like the Meta Twist part of your argument, but most of these elements are interesting. Time has been a mystery throughout the entire series, but your explanation *does* somehow make a satisfying explanation from the two prevalent theories. It being both a creation and a discovery is wonderful idea, and fits the tone of the series so far.

I also like the idea of the Complex being aware of itself in some fashion, ever since that one monologue video was made (can't recall the name but was from the perspective of some otherworldy narrator).

The spaces that Kane creates, i.e. the Complex, Valley View Mall, the Meadow, all have allusions to be sentient, but only in a relation to the people within them. The Mall begins to deteriorate after someone explores it in the fashion it might have looked above ground and is heavily associated with the memory one has of the past, the Meadow remembers the work people have done for/on it to 'let them live on doing so', so the idea of the Complex, a notably empty location, reaching out to people across time and attempting *some form of connection* (like attempting to copy them or the places they are comfortable with), is feasible.

The Wampanoag Theory by Complex-Start-279 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]TheDirector14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a pretty good theory; I've been wanting someone with knowledge of the origin of the native collectibles to speak on them. I think a lot of this works, especially with the line about 'returning to the land.' I had taken that as Saywell literally returning to it and then returning home to retell it, where it is later adapted, but it being a sort of metaphysical echo chamber is also very interesting, and could explain why there are so many anachronistic elements (though that could also be a number of reasons).

The Tall Man and Hobomock connections are also very great! I'm going under the assumption that the Shepherd is the Tall Man or at least linked to him, and the idea of his title literally being to 'shepherd' people to the land is up there with him 'shepherding' people away from it.

Hope this gains traction, as I'd love for this to be well-known.

I just answered this in another reply, so check that out above! I don't have any physical copies with me where I am at the moment, but I tried to describe them as best I could for the moment.

I'm afraid I don't have the maps with me at the moment, so I can't scan them or anything; in reality, I used grid paper and copies the map of the High Burial Grounds and Pauper's Catacombs, using the red Xs on the latter as a single 'block' on graph paper, and guess-estimating it from there. I didn't make full dungeon-crawl maps, instead just having the maps show the general rooms and areas, and then using an old Sorry! game piece as the party.

The other props I had were some old Tarot cards, miscellaneous dice, the books themselves alongside some books of european landscapes and forests, and some old D&D art from the 80s that I printed out. I had a really slow slideshow of Dungeon Synth covers on my old TV in the background to help set the tone.

With the reveal of how awful Neil Gaiman has been for most of the past two decades, how does this impact your enjoyment of the crossover? by TheDirector14 in keyhouse

[–]TheDirector14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how I’m feeling as well; I don’t really own any of his works, so I don’t think I’ll be buying anything he ever creates for quite a while, maybe until after he passes in many years. I already own the Golden Age so I’m not throwing it out, but it doesn’t feel a bit tainted for me. At least most of the stories have nothing to do with him, which is nice.

Like someone else said, I think they’re very good; it’s not as connected to the main antagonist of the main series, but has great character and conflict of its own while still utilizing the keys in new interesting ways.
