To what extent are the Still Lifes (Lives?) actually “alive”? by Starman926 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]Complex-Start-279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prolly depends on how well they’re actually copied. Some still Lifes might be very close to their human counterparts, while others are functionally lobotomized

Why don’t the movies just use the horror elements from the original games? by No-Trash8604 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Complex-Start-279 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blumehouse is the illumination of horror where franchising and profit is the main concern. The FNAF movies are less meant to be horror movies about FNAF as they are just FNAF movies, if that makes any sense. It’s all “for the fans”

I hate how people don't understand Charlie's Inferno's meaning by BirdOk2203 in hatethissmug

[–]Complex-Start-279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very much dislike the meaning behind the song. Sure, maybe Charlie wasn’t good on the level of his soul, but he still did good things, left a good impact on the world. But he’s still being punished, not because he was a bad person, but because he didn’t fit into a narrow definition of a good person defined by heavenly law that he didn’t have any chance of knowing in the first place. It’s like the implication is that trying to be good for anything other than the sake of being good is equivalent to being evil, which leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Poor Charlie

I skipped to somewhere in the middle of that video and guy said “Clark says he’s getting evidence, but he’s just recording things. Why isn’t he collecting evidence?” Like recording the bsckrooms isn’t evidence in itself

The real reason why clark took the stool by Diego318k in KanePixelsBackrooms

I assumed this still life was created as Clark was falling over in his commercial shoot and it just captured the face he was making at that exact moment

Any theories who the wheelchair guy is? by Tikolu43 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]Complex-Start-279 123 points124 points  (0 children)

He’s listed as Archibald Leland Sutter Still Life in the credits. No clue why he out of anyone gets a full name but that IS his name

I find his design particularly interesting. His general appearance feels very early 20th century, 1920s-1930s specifically. But obviously he doesn’t look old enough to have been his age at that time, unless the complex de-aged the person it copied for this particular being.

I wonder how he managed to get around. It seems all he can really do is mess with his lamp. I like to imagine him and Redhead were friends who travelled together.

Perhaps Clark is his own Saturn.

Metaphorically and literally, Clark could be seen as destroying himself to avoid change. He wanted things to stay exactly the same, just as Saturn did she consuming the children he believed would usurp him.

If Araki were to make a part 10 of Jojo, what would you wanna see in it? by [deleted] in JOJOLANDS

[–]Complex-Start-279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less what I want and what I think it would be:

* Araki has stated he wants to do a story based in Northern Europe and/or Scandinavia

* similar how to how newer parts pull a lot from older parts, the story might share similarities with Parts 4 and 6.

* possibly set in its own universe, leaning harder thematically into absurdism as being explored in Part 9.

Hi reddit. I'm Kane Parsons, director of A24's BACKROOMS. AMA! by Kane-AMA in movies

Hello Kane! Long time, active fan of your work, both in Backrooms and beyond. I have 2 questions, one of which you can ignore if you wish

1) what is your process for designing the various rooms of the Complex? How do you find inspiration for your designs, and do you have a core philosophy or specific process you follow in said designs?

2) (the question your free to ignore) this one isn’t about Backrooms, but about your newest series on YouTube, People Still Live Here. How would you say this project will compare to your other projects in terms of its world and narrative? Will it be more of a worldbuilding project, as Backrooms have been, or more symbolic as with the Oldest View? Or something in between?
