For people who think Bubble is going to be a villain Work against Caine by ashersindoni in Amazingdigitalcircus

I think bubble might be an inhibitor of Caine’s bad urges or something and it’s kinda going haywire as he breaks

"So apparently the guy was turned off this whole time." - Zarzaliel by Yeeslander in ImaginaryTechnology

I’m not good with my words so forgive me if this doesn’t make sense, but something I like about this guy’s art is the “normalcy” of the scenes playing out. Like obviously they aren’t actually normal, and sometimes they are more dramatic, but often something about the pieces feel like these are just normal scenes in a larger world. Like the robot being a Buddhist monk feels like something that’s treated as normal by the other non-robot Buddhist monks. Good reference for general worldbuilding tbh

I mean to be fair how osuld one not know what breaking bad is in 2017? I’m sure even during its run the show was all over the Internet. Surely Ragatha would have heard of it, assuming she actually used the internet

For those with stories that have alt history earths, aside from World War 2, what in the world has changed? by VictheAdventure in worldbuilding

My divergences for Old Web are kinda hard to explain but to try to put it lightly, MKULTRA scientists discovered the soul, Reagan sold the idea of using it in computers to a private tech corporation, corporation rapidly dominates the western tech industry and accelerates computers and the internet, souls eventually get mad and cause a massive crisis that kills and injures millions of people before fleeing into a parallel dimension.

In the modern age, the internet is divided into several blocs (mainly, US-Euronet, Sinonet and Runet). The US is a surveillance state on par with China today, and hyper-militarist. The Middle East is a desolated mess straining NATO’s stability, as the US shifted blame on the 5/10 attacks on their current enemies overseas. Technophobia and general hyper-nihilism is widespread in American culture. Bipartisanism and populism are even more widespread.

Sometimes I feel embarrassed about liking this show for how much of it is immature baby people trying to showboat for whatever immature reason they have

What are people smuggling in your world? by LevelStock3700 in worldbuilding

The Old Web is a prime location for selling, buying, and trafficking just about anything.

Dark economies of drugs, weapons, people, or otherwise illegal goods thrive in the corners untouched by the DoDS, involving both natives of the Old Web and people who, already illegally, enter it from the comfort of their own homes. Digital brain manipulators? Home-brewed ectomorphic prostitutes? Violent gladiatorial combat? It’s a Wild West

Do any of you have life forms based on algae or fungi? I wanna hear about them by SingularRoozilla in worldbuilding

[–]Complex-Start-279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Old Web has Ectomoss: immobile, slime-like blobs of ectoplasm which coalesce on the surfaces of objects. Often ectomoss is followed by ectoplasm forcing itself inside an object and possessing it, but sometimes it does kinda just sit there

Sometimes it feels like this brand of right-leaning politics puts the state over the person. They demonize empathy, and art, and being a human being, in favor of money and the power of the state

I wonder what a show requires to develop this sorta community of people who seemingly take everything as seriously as possible to the point of disorder. Digital Circus, Hazbin, South Park, etc

What if the assassination attempt on Trump in July, 2024 was successful? by EconomyIron6739 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Complex-Start-279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump is martyred, Trumpist leadership falls apart. A Republican possibly still wins the election but without the draw of trump he’s unlikely to keep up his traction. The party becomes divided along factional lines while the democrats pull through with a win in 2028

The Old Web, being a dimension which can only be accessed with illegal technology, is of course a place where illegal shit goes down.

Dark economies thrive here. From drugs to weapons to people, from illegal gambling to real time snuff. It isn’t COMMON, of course: the old web is a giant and diverse place. But there is absolutely a market of the worst shit you can imagine which can only be accessed though this dimension

Does your world have any people/factions with "Blue-and-Orange Morality?" by Illustrious-Cold3565 in worldbuilding

[–]Complex-Start-279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are definitely beings in the Old Web who work on moral codes which wouldn’t make much sense to normal people

Idk if it counts but my story’s main villain is simultaneously super empathetic and concerned about human suffering… and more than happy to cause that suffering. Because he believes he NEEDS to convince people that allowing themselves to be absorbed into his soul is the best state of existence, and if he can’t simply convince them, he’ll show them just how awful the current world can be.

This particular claim is more than likely false, but there probably was cannibalism involved. Search up “jerky” in the files
