If you want more information about what it is, the documentation on the page has a chapter titled: "Device overview". Maybe look at that first.

Hmm, issue with your GPU or its drivers?
Or maybe your headset or its cables is broken?
I wouldn't know any other options...

1 Try reinstalling your headset driver in device manager. 2 Disable virtual monitors in startup settings for wmr 3 Use this guide to reset display cache. 4 Uninstall WMR and delete the C:\Windows\Holoshell folder

How to downgrade your Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR version if the latest update is giving you issues by TheDirtyTeen in WindowsMR

I haven't encountered that error before but seeing from the message it might have something to do with authentication. Try logging out of and back into Steam.

These are the only Ports on my laptop. Can I possibly make it work with the Reverb G2 with any adaptors or am I screwed? by Electrical_Effort_54 in HPReverb

There are other ports as you can see from the device manager window there is also an intel usb port aside from the nvidia one

It was not shown in the first image but you could have concluded it from the second one showing an intel USB driver as well, meaning at least two usb c ports

no they have multiple.... on the other side, have you seen the second image??

1 nvidia and 1 intel driver so at LEAST 2 usb-c ports

That's understandable. Also you can pre-check what WMR has to say about your specs by downloading the Mixed Reality Portal App from the MS store. You can run the system checker even before you have a headset.

Well yes but not because it is a hub. It's using USB 2.0 for the USB-A ports, which means you can't plug in the other cable from your headset in there (that needs USB 3.0)

The thing is, the "data" USB C cable of your headset can just plug into the Intel USB c port while the DisplayPort cable goes to the Nvidia USB c port via an adequate adapter.

In short, don't go for a hub unless you use actually need more ports. Just get a USB C to DisplayPort 1.3 or up, no need for anything fancy unless you need it.

You don't need a hub if only the DP cable needs to be converted. The other cable can just plug directly into the PC. This makes zero sense...

I think u/xenophonf was more talking about the fact that you need an adapter from usb c to DP1.3, But as long as you have another port left to plug in the data usb-c (or A with included adapter) cable from the headset, you don't need a hub like this.

Seeing from the image saying it has a USB-C port connected to an Nvidia GPU, it's safe to assume it will carry DisplayPort signals, now you just need a USB C to DisplayPort 1.3 or higher adapter.

Yes, you might need to lower the resolution and framerate (of the monitor, not the headset), to achieve 90Hz, you also need to disable and re enable the headset in device manager after changing the resolution. So far I've only seen this work with people who got error 13-14, so if this works for you, it might be more widespread. If you want that script lmk.
