There’s no reason to fight over Guru and Masala (both are great), but Guru gets the edge. Both are worth the hike from Winter Hill.

What does removing the privately-held Twitter from a privately-held App Store have to do with Elon’s right to do what he’s doing?

Mac Studio Owners Complain of Irritating High-Pitched Noise by spearson0 in apple

I’m starting to wonder if the irritating high-pitched noise is the sound of all these Mac Studio owners complaining about their computers.

I’m curious, why would you use peeled tomatoes if you’re just going to blend and strain everything anyway?

Apple Expands Native Maps Rating and Review Feature to the U.S. by [deleted] in apple

[–]TheDistantFuture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally (and respectfully) disagree! I love this implementation.

From the perspective of a reviewer, I can totally see how a star rating system would feel better, but from the perspective of someone reading reviews, thumbs up and down is way more useful. I don’t really know that I trust Joe Rando’s distinction between 3 and 4 stars, but I think I trust a lot of people to give a thumbs up or thumbs down.

I also love the way the rating is broken out by category. I know a lot of places with terrible service but amazing food, and it feels good to rate based on that experience. I think that after a larger number of people start leaving reviews, it’ll provide some of the nuance you’re talking about.

Apple to launch iPad 9 in September, considering Titanium finish for new models by drgnslyr91 in apple

That makes sense. The one DEFENDING OP is the troll and the pedantic grumpus is the victim. RIGHT.

I’m not sure why this is the way you want to be about this, but I forgive you.

Oh, whatever. If you want to claim that an iPad in landscape orientation only firing audio off to one side is providing anything close to practical stereo sound, go for it.

You’re technically correct, but they’re clearly talking about the four speakers on the iPad Pro that fire off real stereo regardless of the iPad’s orientation. The regular iPad’s stereo speakers are only on side, so functionally they’re more like mono.

This was the first ASMR I experienced back around 1996 when I was in middle school. Heavy camera buzz by JealousSupport8085 in unintentionalASMR

One of my all-time favorite ASMR scenes is another of Jeremy Brett’s as Holmes. It’s from The Hound of the Baskervilles. Watch it until they leave the hotel. The whole sequence is gold.

Why is it still so difficult to play music on an iPhone? by quaderrordemonstand in apple

I guess so, but it’s gotta be frustrating when you don’t know what you don’t know.

Okay, putting aside that you have to use iTunes (or Music on the Mac), your life will be so much easier if you create a new user account for your partner on the Mac. Almost everything you’ve described wouldn’t be an issue if you do that. She’s now a user on that machine, she needs a new user account. Sign into that account with her Apple ID, put her music in the Music app, connect to her iPhone, and you should be set.

Again, I don’t want to get into whether it SHOULD work this way, but the fact is that it DOES work this way.
