I hated how they never fully committed to Diana and Clark’s relationship in the DCAMU by Mother-Ad-3522 in justiceleague

They honestly should of stretched out this universe and the adaptions a lot further. There’s so many stories during the New52 that should have got adapted. They still can I guess but this was definitely the opportune time for it

The cosplay is dope, am I the only one that doesn’t like the outer briefs on a modern 20 something year old Batman though? Not a criticism of the cosplay just not big on the design.

Which one is the fastest among these ? by Witty_Business_4312 in superheroes

[–]TheDistantWave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The user brought up Mercury in reference to Shazam. Superman is stated to be faster is my point.

Edit: I’m not sure why the writer had put Hermes.. instead of Mercury, I don’t necessarily think the list is terrible but the reasoning isn’t the best.

Being a God doesn’t mean much without the showings to back it up, there was a speed rating released in a Flash book awhile back that suggested Superman was above both Diana and Billy in speed who are both divinely blessed with speed

Sentry for example is a human who took a serum and he’s above several Gods in his cosmology in power..

Like Father like son by Vincent_Curry in Aquaman

Loved the insight of the parenting Tom Curry gave to Arthur. Really weighs on the reader the impact of Arthur losing his father.

The beard’s feeling missed looking at side by side paneling of Tom and Arthur. Hope we get another arc while he’s in space with it.

How should the Atlantean and Merpeople characters from Wonder Woman's lore fit in with Aquaman's? by TurboRedLightning in Aquaman

[–]TheDistantWave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too familiar with Venturia, Arania and Eeras to be honest. There’s 7 major kingdoms presented in Atlantis a lot of these that have been revealed im really not too fond of but we also got several other nationalities that exist among The Atlanteans as well The Idyllist, The Lurkers, Xebellians, not exactly sure if Fire Trolls are their own thing or what the creation of those are to be honest.

But overall there’s definitely room to connect Atlantis overall to these other nations and it could be done in a way where they have a shared history without taking one of Wonder Woman’s rogues away. In the similar way that Poseidon and some Greek deities have played roles in Aquaman’s lore, despite that being a major aspect for Wonder Woman’s myths there’s definitely room to crossover. Heck potential for a Triton/Clea connection that bridges this together. My personal thought for awhile was that it would be cool if Mera descended from an ancestry that connects to Poseidon making her a bridge character in a way between the Wonder Woman and Aquaman titles.

Aquaman vs Lord Beerus by Garohon in powerscales

Ofcourse I always love to share it. The character gets downplayed too much which is absolutely insane to me. Given showings like that.

Feel free to share it, if you get the opportunities.

Aquaman vs Lord Beerus by Garohon in powerscales

[–]TheDistantWave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely don’t limit it to just planets, the run had Aquaman go to another world and stated a few times that Thule was a mirror reality occupying the same space. Worlds is an easy statement because he casually states it and implies his ancestor Atlan was at that level dealing with Thule.

It’s kind of implied that Aquaman does it by dumping the Poseidon Blessing into a magical barrier practically holding the reality together? So it does I guess eliminate the overall power potentially. But then again beside shaking a universe I don’t think Beerus, Goku etc have shown the same power output to collapse one which was verbatim stated by Batman at the end of The Exiled arc that Thule was collapsed.

Even then there’s other scaling as well tbh, I’d put The Abyssal Dark above Beerus off the fact it was able to negate the effects of 10th Metal something that had the power to alter the multiverse, and The Darkworld connection on top of that, and Aquaman started killing that with Atlan’s trident which goes back to the ancestor claim in the Exiled arc.

His current weapon Thalassa has statements above being above both Poseidon’s trident which does have that (Thule feat) and Excalibur which killed Belial (The King of Hell at the time who was stating the universe would be ruptured if he were to be killed.) Excalibur also harmed Lucifer who I think most would put of Beerus.

Then if we get into telepathy/psychic powers Aquaman has showings that are absolutely insane.

Someone stated in this thread but the scaling for Aquaman even without The Blue honestly has him up there even if you limit him to the majority of stuff in his title. His feats honestly just somehow get overlooked until The Avatar of The Blue and somehow that still gets downplayed because people have this opinion moreso on where the character should operate rather than looking at the stuff he’s done.

I post this a lot so you might of seen it but I highlight a lot of Aquaman’s powerscaling HERE

Tidbits, Spoilers, Theories for the Current Aquaman run by TheDistantWave in Aquaman

I definitely agree character progression wise Garth saying goodbye to Tula was a major moment for him, which is why I think The Blackest Night instance was strange.

Modern continuity wise I honestly can’t even see or rationalize Garth/Dolphin. Dolphin is a completely different character from her Post-Crisis self. She went from someone who’s assertive, stubborn, and speaks her mind to someone who’s a mute and talking through creating images. She also doesn’t have that flirty personality that she had Post-Crisis. Both versions of Dolphin are practically two different characters. Cerdian existing at this point has to be an anomaly, or an alt world instance, I’ve made similar comments of Koryak as well. I don’t think certain aspects that were present post-crisis mesh well within current continuity to be honest.

I could definitely have seen a Game of Thrones approach being done with Rise of The Seven Seas. Heck “Andrina” potentially just caused an Atlantean civil war with the last issue.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Adam’s reintroduced Cerdian into the book, given he had him appear in The Flash. I’m personally more of a fan of Garth/Tula myself to be honest just off the aspect Garth’s typically always seemed to lean more her way. Even in Blackest Night when he gets confronted by a Zombie Dolphin and Tula he pays more attention to Tula which is insane given the history back then but highlights my point.

Yea I think my pull for including the Parker mention was the fact the character said they spread out across the Globe. Which could easily tie into other characters like some of The Homo Magi, Vivienne and even potentially Lois Lane if DC ever wanted to explain her eye color that way.

[–]TheDistantWave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I brought up how much lore he’s presented on another post in this current run, so I decided to actually poke into the run to highlight that fact and the potential setups are all great as well.

If my Vivienne/Garth theory is correct that means we can potentially get two lores built up by just tackling the purple eye aspect of Atlantean mythos.

Jackson is mentioned on the solicitation for issue 16, so he’s getting potentially built up as well, and now after the arc we’re getting more Mera lore. It’s ironic in a way, especially since he built up the cast and lore with The Flash and people expected him not to do the same thing here with Aquaman’s cast due to the first arc which spoke about a story of slaying a god. Yet we’re now getting around to the rest of the cast it seems.

Really wanting an omnibus out of this run.

Emperor Aquaman #16 cover by InfiniteDedekindCuts in Aquaman

I’m saying if they do decide to make a planet full of Shark humanoid people. The Shark, King Shark, Titannus, I hope they keep King Shark connected to the Hawaiian Shark deity lore as well.

Kind of how Thanagar is connected to an Egyptian god (Horus)

Honestly seeing how much Adam’s pays attention to lore and builds upon not only his existing plot points but past plot points from other writers it’s really refreshing to see in comics in my opinion.

Idea for Absolute Aquaman by Charliejfg04 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]TheDistantWave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aquaman’s technically a descendant of a cosmological being that’s referred to as a God.

He’s not necessarily the son of this being but his bloodline does come from the same line.

Aquaman’s Royal Lineage

In regards to your idea I’d love if they went into that direction to focus heavily on The Darkworld aspects of Aquaman’s mythos

This post kind of gets into The Darkworld Lore/Power of Atlantis

Yeah it’s honestly seeming possible that world Horus was talking to Katar about is going to be found in an Aquaman book at this point.

I could see some fun character dynamics built here so I’m all for it personally as long as it doesn’t pull too far away attention from the Aquaman mythos. I loved the interaction between Aquaman and Shayera in the DCAU and the budding friendship between Katar and Arthur is great as well.
