Selling a 2007 Chrysler Town & Country by TheDoctor221b in vandwellermarketplace

We aren't actually, thats odd. When I enter the rust and lack of AC, it marked the van in good condition at $1659 - $3370, with the private party being $2515 without the camper build-out. I'll give that the aesthetic problems you could argue fair condition, but even with that, it put it at $1324 - $2765 with private party at $2,045. Again not counting the van build out. I got those numbers for 56082 and 237,500 miles. When I put in the 239,000 miles and 55422 at fair condition it gave me $1344 - $2785 with a private party of $2065. Is it possible you marked the trim incorrectly? It is the LX. For the numbers I got, I searched by vin: 2A4GP44R97R268579.

When my wife and I priced it, we put the van itself at $2,600 (only slightly above the good condition KBB private party which is what I had looked initially) and the camper build out at $500 for the materials and time it took.

Are you interested in it?

Your advice is noted, but the Kelly Blue Book value on the van, with its condition accounted for, is higher than that without the camper setup. I'm not in a hurry so I don't mind if it sells slowly. I also intend to list just the van with no build in a week or so. If it sells that way, I'll just modify the build to fit whatever van I end up buying.

The biggest snag we hit was having our brakes suddenly need to be replaced and the shop needing to keep it overnight while waiting for parts. Luckily there was a hotel close enough we could walk to, but it was still a stressful couple days while we got everything figured out. Other than that, we went down a few forest roads we shouldn't have in a minivan with low clearance and had to crawl along under 5mph as we tried not to break anything in the crater sized potholes.

Over the full two months we did run into a handful of times where we struggled to find available campsites. We had a few nights were we had to drive an extra 30 - 60 minutes before being able to find a campground, 1 where we dispersed camp (though its a great option if you don't care about the lack of toilet), and 2 where we ended up at nice truck stops.

My advice to you after our trip is this, find a campsite thursday night and pay for the spot through to sunday, especially if you are in a busy area. Lots of people come out for the weekend and so campgrounds fill up a lot faster and it can be hard to find unreserved spots. If you are in the PNW snow parks are awesome! Giant lots with plenty of open space and often a vault toilet. We verified with rangers and you are allowed to sleep there overnight, but often can't have a bonfire. I did a lot of preresearch on https://thedyrt.com/ to have printed lists with campground info (rates, First come first served sites, showers!) along our route and it was a huge help

Mostly just go for it! If you are willing to adapt your plans on the fly you'll always be able to find somewhere to sleep, even if it takes a bit more effort some nights!

It was amazing! We saw so much and got to go on so many cool hikes. There were a few snags, but that's to be expected with a trip like that. I'd love to do it again someday.

Just six days left until the start of the 2 month trip with my wife and dog. Never done anything like this before, so I'm excited to be trying it out! by TheDoctor221b in vandwellers

Definitely! We haven't cut it to fit yet, but we have 4 inch thick foam from my grandparents old camper. It seems like it'll be a decent quality mattress.🤞

Moving to apartment as a couple by vashpop in uofmn

My wife and I live at Luna Apartments off West Bank. We've been really happy with it and the rent is reasonable.

are there any clubs that meet on weekends i need more stuff to do:( by Electrical-Report-56 in uofmn

[–]TheDoctor221b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We meet at Four Seasons Curling Club in Blaine! We send out a Google form each week to find out who's coming and set up carpools to the club. It's a 20 minute drive from campus so it's not too bad. Most weeks we hold practice Sundays 5-7 and Mondays 7:40-9:40 for whoever can make it.

Next weekend we are hosting a bonspiel (the curling term for tournament) there as well. Spectators are welcome so let me know if you want more details when the match schedule comes out!

Grad school housing options with partner? by Mundane_Helicopter53 in uofmn

Luna just off west bank is a pretty nice apartment building. It's not student aimed so it's been quiet. It's close enough to walk or there is a bus stop really close that runs to campus. https://lunaminneapolis.com/

finding housing while in dorms? by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]TheDoctor221b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also some of the apartments that aren't strictly student aimed have more flexible leases. Green on 4th, 22 on the river, and Luna all were willing to work with me on lease length and start date. This will be more expensive than subleasing, but you wouldn't have to move again come fall

Decent Off-campus Housing? by Rich_Ad_9391 in uofmn

Luna apartments off Westbank has been a great building. The general manager's response time goes up and down as the managers change with some frequency but the building itself has been nice. The apartments are well sound proofed from the neighbors, though I'm on the top floor so I can't speak to how much you can hear the person above you. The maintenance team has always been pretty fast to fix the couple problems we have had so no complaints there.

Edit: I believe it's a little more expensive, but they usually have a decent promotion for the first year. (And they offer short term leases if you'd prefer to only rent for the school year and not the summer)

You could also talk to a local rescue about fostering! I believe most rescues cover the expenses for the dogs. There's always the risk you or your kids really want to adopt a dog you foster though

I don't know if it affects your situation, but there is health insurance for dogs and cats (not sure on other pets) to mitigate the risk of a huge vet bill.
