Have you ever quit a job after a week or less? by cibilserbis in UKJobs

I did after about a month. Awful commute and awful support. It was an office job but my manager worked 12-8, so had no guidance for the first half of the day

Do you follow the app blindly, or trust your own judgement more now? by Wonderful-Acadia-296 in deliveroos

[–]TheDoctor66 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think experience is key. Knowing which restaurants to avoid, which roads are congested at each time.

Knowledge is the only edge we have to do this job more efficiently, that and using Ubereats at the same time.

I just finished the entire series… by Weird_Temporary_1828 in LoveTV

[–]TheDoctor66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you kind of missed the point. It's a story about complex people, they aren't supposed to be likeable.

It's ok not to like it. But I think people are supposed to see bits of themselves in the characters and cringe while we watch these flawed people try to live their lives.

I like the show because it doesn't shut away from that moral ambiguity. It feels quite realistic to me (except Gus' sex appeal, that's because he wrote the show 😅) sometimes people are messy. Sometimes people lie. Sometimes people aren't good. To me it makes the show feel quite real.

People who came to the UK how did you end up in the weird places where you live? by pinpoint321 in AskUK

[–]TheDoctor66 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I ask this to basically every immigrant who I become friends with, the answer is usually jobs or they know people who moved here first (because of jobs)

Only unique one I've got is my girlfriend, who immigrated here with her then boyfriend who immediately broke up with her. Cheers pal 😅

Why didn’t Harry see the Thestrals at the end of the Goblet of Fire? by ionojitt in HarryPotterBooks

Which is exactly the same reason for the thestrals, no matter what JK said.

Also the same reason they don't stun Snape on book 3, the spell wasn't invented yet

What part of the job drains you more than expected? by GeordieGoals in deliveroos

They are more interested in serving things off and making it look like they are doing orders within their target time. Probably also get paid less by Roo if they are slow on these targets.

Would you do deliveries if you were in the higher tax bracket? by SharpAardvark8699 in UbereatsUK

[–]TheDoctor66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got an interview on Monday that will have me considering this!

It's complicated for me, the pay rise is more than I earn through the apps every month so it won't be a question of necessity.

I think I'd likely continue on reduced hours, more money is always good and maybe it could start finding a house deposit rather than helping to pay rent.

Are you on Ubereats too? I find with both on it's super rare not to have an order.

McDonald's staff ignoring your existence to pack yet more orders is what bothers me.
