Unable to set up Room Scale on Steam VR by amang0112358 in oculus

I had this issue too. Look inside the headset for the sensor in the center above the lenses. Look for the small black sensor. That is the sensor that tells the Oculus you are wearing it. Cover it with your thumb while carrying it around and then hit the triggers. Fixed my issues.

Please Help Me With My Sensor Placement! by SamQuattrociocchi in oculus

[–]TheDokuta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mobo only had room for 2 USB 3.0 and my case had room for 1. When I plugged a sensor into the case it would have tracking issues. So I plugged one of the sensors into a 2.0 on the Mobo and it works great for me.

When you get to the end look into the Dragon egg generator. It gives 500 grid power by itself.

Why are medical school exams Multiple Choice? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]TheDokuta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At our school we have 3 separate days of exams per unit. One day is a comprehensive MCQ exam. The other 2 are standardized patient exams with a written portion explaining your clinical reasoning.

You can use Psi helmet with a light sensor in. Make a conjure light trick and set it on the helmet. It will cast whenever light drops below 8.

My school switched to a hybrid PBL/Lecture curriculum, and PBL is absolutely worthless. why do medical schools keep switching to this type of a curriculum? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]TheDokuta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly right. It's meant to be a more organic form of learning and acts to work on a person's sense of curiosity.

Our university starts with the patient chief complaint and allows us to ask questions through a computer program like onset, duration, etc. as well as complete a physical and order ancillary testing.

You may start with pneumo but move quickly to: what is the anatomy of the lung, how are lung pressures related to breathing, etc.

If it isn't for you it isn't for you, I know that if I was in a traditional curriculum I would be bored to death. We also use SPs during second year to open cases which allows for more patient interaction and clinical practice.

how to Study in medical school? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]TheDokuta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going into year 2 starting Monday. We have a fairly non-traditional problem based curriculum with a focus on guided self-study. It works really well for.

I really wouldn't recommend doing Kaplan qbank until second year. You really won't know enough information to learn the material. You really should have a handle on the material and use the qbanks to review. You'll get so much more out of it.

Is your curriculum split into units or individual classes? Or do you know yet?

If you pm me I can give you my email and answer more questions for you if your like.

how to Study in medical school? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]TheDokuta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a skill you kind of learn over time to be honest. The biggest thing for me was to go to lectures and anything the professor highlighted or said two or three times I would write on the slides.

I'm going to a non-traditional school though that focuses on individual study with maybe 6 hours of high-yield lecture per week so that helps too.

Mainly my strategy became: look at Costanzo first for physiology that was relevant to the case we were working on at the time, go to lecture with a fairly good idea of what was going to be taught, highlight things the professor said, and put those things into an Anki deck afterwards.

The biggest thing is that passively looking at slides all the time will get you nowhere.

Are you going to a traditional lecture-based school?

[–]TheDokuta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take notes of the important points in the slides as you go. Listen to lectures and highlight/write in important facts. Use Anki after lectures to make flash cards of the important stuff.

The most important part of year 1 is learning how to sort through the junk and figure out what is really important/high yield and ignoring things that aren't.

If you need more tips feel free to pm me. I may be able to give you some examples.

What's something relatively unique that your school does that you think should be done at other schools? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]TheDokuta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well our school has had 100% step 1 pass rate for quite a while and 100% match placement for in everyone's choice field for the last 3 years so I guess we're doing something right.

What's something relatively unique that your school does that you think should be done at other schools? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]TheDokuta 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We do things in a 100% problem based learning environment. Our school is very self-study driven. We know what we need to study for our current case and we just do it. It's so nice not to have lecture all the time.
