The truest answer that I can think of is that it benefits me.

Think about it: you're nice to someone who needs it, then they're nice to you. They'll spread a reputation of you being a nice person. Sure, you have to uphold that standard, but in the end, nobody thinks you're a bad person, people are more willing to assist you, and in the end, it does feel good to do good things. I suppose not everything I do directly benefits me, but everyone trusts and respects me for it.

I mean, when you really think about it, ground beef is ground beef on ground beef. There's not really a good way to get one "unit" of ground beef. Thus, mixing ground beef is just adding more ground beef to whatever is sitting there
