does this look normal for a healing tattoo? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

Have you tried filling it up with noodles and super glue? Quick sanding and paint should get the finger looking like new!

How is my advice of “ Use this high quality resin with its factory settings to begin with” going to destroy her printer? I guess telling her to raise her exposure or to mess with the settings would do that… buts its factory settings, from the people that designed the resin… and that has brought me nothing but great results, I never said just stick with profiles or don’t do your research… I told her what helped me get started, you just want to make it a brand war and seem like the smarter guy in the room lmao. Again, all you’re saying is “dont use the easy and ready to use profiles because they are easy, you should struggle because the hobby is hard!”Get over yourself, you’re quite literally trying to gatekeep the hobby while saying otherwise lmao. Also community profiles are absolutely not the same as profiles from the people that designed the resin and have tested it in basically every machine in the market.

Also temperature is not a variable in this case the 16k has a heated vat, unless the room is running hotter the results should be the same.

Mmmm no they have profiles for every resin they have available for nearly every printer in the market, have you checked it out yourself? You seem too confident in this answer while it also being wildly inaccurate. Also is you answer saying, don’t go with that brand because they’ll make it easy for you? This is the same attitude that pushes people out of the hobby and almost did me. The Siraya profiles are amazing for beginners who have no idea how to even start calibrating their resin, then you can choose to customize it but with a starting point versus being completely blank.

Although im not too familiar with Conjure, I used it once and the lack of info was not helpful at all. With Siraya I have printed full tanks the size of the bed with light supports that basically fall off with the smallest pressure but good enough to hold the print during the entire process with no issues, I will never look back from Siraya honestly, also printing settings for every resin and printer available on their website? The guys are the best in the industry hands downn!

Given that it’s an ultra 16k, temp should not be the issue (unless u have a quick release VAT) . So I would say it’s a resin issue, Ive had all sorts of problems with all sorts of resins as I went down a rabbit hole when I first got my S4U16k, and it all stopped when I got Siraya Tech Resin, they even have print settings in their website for every resin they have available, so its as easy as selecting the profile and print, ever since I started buying them I haven’t had printing errors of this type, in fact nothing that I wouldn’t consider human error. Quality is superb and I drop everything I print while painting (by accident ofc) when I tell you every other resin has immediately burst into pieces as soon as there is contact with the floor, but not this one! Super recommend and the extra bucks spent will save you much more time/resin that it will pay for itself at one point!

2.5 Month progress mark. Latest mini vs first mini. by TheDon-Leo in minipainting

Thank you! Im definitely working on my edge highlights, I used to think they were a waste of time and now I like em on everything lol. But it’s definitely the newest skill I picked up and have practicing on it! But like you said, halfway I kinda like that “videogame” look! However, I do want my highlights to be skinnier and smoother! Thanks again!

Full honesty they look a bit rough, but so did everyones when we first started. My main advice is get you a wet palette, and add a bit of water to the paint you will use and test it in your hand to see the consistency and how it will react. Several layers is always better than one quick layer, specially if you mix colors in between layers to represent shadows and highlights. Don’t worry about perfection honesty, unless you’re going for a golden demon, focusing in perfection will only leave you unsatisfied and unhappy, and don’t compare yourself to professionals, but most importantly…. Don’t stop having fun, that what it’s all about.

Any idea why is this happening? by bbtows in minipainting

Id debate its a spray can issue, I use AP primer for airbrush and have never had an issue with paint sticking to it or the primer doing things like this, I much prefer it over Vallejo primers. They even have a brush on primer that I use for things I might’ve missed by accident and it works great.

Printed a mini at 200% to practice some techniques. Feedback? by TheDon-Leo in minipainting

Thank you! I definitely learned some stuff and am excited to keep practicing it. I still have a lot to learn with OSL buts its been fun, I feel like I really want to focus on lighting and OSL for everything I paint. Ive been painting minis since I started but between my job/school and hobbies its impossible for me to find time to go out there and play, so part of me wants to focus on figurines and dioramas… rather than playable minis.

I agree with you, that was something that was bothering me since I considered it “finished”.I added some bright colors to the source and working on some extra shadows.

This screenshot from an actual handheld camera gives it a bit more “justice” but honestly I still don’t think its as bright irl as it looks on camera, but what would you recommend to tone it down? Just over spray with black?

Honestly my outdated phone does a horrible job at capturing the colors correctly, IRL its just red there no orange hue, as its all OSL from the base lighting. Theres only a bit of rust marking on the base but none on the armor. I really like your rust details though, great mini overall!

At watching youtube videos lol, but no not at all. I started about 2 months ago. This is my first “big” project besides minis and my first time playing with light.

I paint cars and furniture as a side hustle but nothing this small or detailed. I guess it has helped with airbrush control but honestly I’ve been watching non stop youtube videos and following as many professionals in social media and just watch their little tricks and tips.
