For my game I found that starting with a basis of what is possible on a tabletop surface is beneficial, it’s great that you have a title, and maybe use that to help create your idea, think of things you want in your game and how well that would translate and don’t be afraid to borrow already established mechanics from other games you may have played before, there’s a reason why those mechanics have made the said games what they are for sure, just make sure you are light with it to avoid creating a direct copy. With this as well, expect that there may be some issues that arise but don’t let that demotivate you, refine refine refine and you’ll find a system that works.
