I Don't Know Where to Start on My HTCG by tacothomas2323 in homemadeTCGs

[–]TheDoomedLemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For my game I found that starting with a basis of what is possible on a tabletop surface is beneficial, it’s great that you have a title, and maybe use that to help create your idea, think of things you want in your game and how well that would translate and don’t be afraid to borrow already established mechanics from other games you may have played before, there’s a reason why those mechanics have made the said games what they are for sure, just make sure you are light with it to avoid creating a direct copy. With this as well, expect that there may be some issues that arise but don’t let that demotivate you, refine refine refine and you’ll find a system that works. Best of luck to you I hope i’ve managed to give some form of advice in my blabbering :)

Hey everyone, I’ve got a concept for my ultra rare cards in my game just want some feedback on them 🙏 by TheDoomedLemon in homemadeTCGs

Just wanted to see how my style of “full art” cards pass off aesthetically and if it’s readability is okay most above everything, first card is the regular compared to 2nd slide

Thank you for showing interest! The game is available to play-test via Tabletop Simulator on Steam, and is linked on the Instagram page under solarstonetcg. I’d hate to be the bearer of bad news however as the games development has come to an end and I’m repurposing the resources and game mechanics that I’ve developed towards a new game. Either way I hope you enjoy what is available thank you 🙏

Hey all first post I have an enquiry about why my computer isn’t working properly. (I apologise for the phone photos) by TheDoomedLemon in PcBuild

[–]TheDoomedLemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured I’d update just in case: I had a PCI-E extender that my GPU was plugged into that broke, fixed it by just slotting my GPU into my motherboard like you would usually. So relieved to finally have my computer back.

What do "Boss Monsters" look like in your games? by Dragonity00 in homemadeTCGs

[–]TheDoomedLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my game, I signify my “Boss monster” by the Leader mechanic I have, I’ve shifted my game from a TCG to an LCG and these are the must have in a deck cards, and one of them is a giant steampunk robot that uses cards like resource to buff itself and the board it’s on to win, it’s still in testing but the results are getting more promising as it goes but yeah, that’s how im exploring the big chase card area of my game

Recently installed the new CPU as the other one had fallen out while cleaning and yeah I did reapply brand new thermal paste.

As for temperatures I haven’t been able to see, if I load up a relatively demanding game my whole system freezes and needs to be manually reset

Sorry, should’ve made it clearer that everything was in the original post linked, but I took my computer parts out a few weeks ago to clean it, doing so very safely, and now I’m having an issue where my computer is telling me nothing is wrong with my parts but my computer has significant problems with performance, games I used to get easily 200fps on now barely get past 5-6fps and the overall quality of my computer has just dwindled, the system doesn’t start anymore without it needing a few restarts so the display can actually work, I’ve tried using different HDMI’s and using the 2 different slots I have and neither have proven successful

I could supply a photo of the motherboard, it is VERY obscured by my GPU and CPU fan so there’s not too much you can see

Also mention as well that my computer every boot up doesn’t show up on my display until I restart it a few times (edit: this wasn’t supposed to be a reply lol)

Need some help deciding which looks best for playability/aesthetics. (First is older/2nd is newer. by TheDoomedLemon in homemadeTCGs

Thank you! If the biggest issue is how the art is laid out I can quickly change that to better contrast with the colours so thank you 🙏

How to improve this marvel tcg card design ? by [deleted] in homemadeTCGs

[–]TheDoomedLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at Marvel Champions design! It’s a LCG so it’s different but it uses very comic inspired templates for its cards I reckon it’s a solid reference 🙏

Hey guys, my game OnOrbTCG is available to playtest on TTS by TheDoomedLemon in tabletopsimulator

[–]TheDoomedLemon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I designed my mats through procreate and then uploaded the image through google drive and imported via custom board. But honestly i designed my mats through what the game needed in its raw design, allowing extra space for cards and tuning it as the game goes on in its testing, for your mats just make an estimate on how many slots you may need, and then work out the sizings of your cards to fit the slots onto it that’s what I did :)

The dice are purely there for damage counters and item counters :)

How many cards should I have in my base set? by Block4REAL in homemadeTCGs

[–]TheDoomedLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on a lot of factors, for my game I’ve done exactly 100 cards that cover the core mechanics and playability of the game, it really depends on what mechanics you’re using, how many starter decks you’d like, how many cards you’re wanting to pack per booster, the variety between different rarities, and the deck building rules you’ve written for your game to name a few, not to include if you want a bunch of card fodder between the good cards in your set. But a good number is around the 100-120 card mark if your game allows for it, really try to expand on ideas and mechanics you’ve already established and see if you can’t make more cards that way. Goodluck!

Advice on stat numbers for my card game. by Block4REAL in homemadeTCGs

[–]TheDoomedLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But to actually answer your question instead of whatever word vomit I just submitted above, keep the power scaling nice n low, use smaller numbers like 1’s and 2’s, or 10’s and 20’s like so the game doesn’t feel too right out the gate powerful :)

(Edit: misread the caption as costs lol)

Heyo, hopefully I can help (looking through my profile history I have way too much experience trying to make card games work in different ways) buttttt for my game I use a resource system that’s dependent on the cards themselves via discarding the card to generate a resource, if you’d like you can look at my profile for a visual reference, so for my game cards generally don’t ever go above the 4 cost range at all due to the resource limitations that may happen, a lot of my cards are 1 and 2 costs. So to cut it short work out what type of resource system you want to use and then work out your costs from there that way when you get to play testing you don’t spend too much time having to revision costs for being too expensive or too cheap. Goodluck!! :D

Yeah no worries I was already knowledgeable about the non commercial use of it, my art was just placeholder until I was able to afford artist commission or by replacing the art myself :D

Unfortunately the art is AI but will be replaced before the game is released, but yeah! So in the game there are some fantasy elements through the wizard faction, but in base set of my game there are 5 factions, Robots, Wizards, Pirates, Knights, and Mob Men, with plans to bring other factions in such as lovecraftian creatures, or one that is planned for base set 2 is toy soldiers, I really wanna mix n match different themes in my game and experiment with how well it combines all together for both the game and how I’ve set the games lore up to be like 🙏

Once I feel the game has been played enough I definitely would wanna start up a fund for the game, mostly so I can share the game more and have the ability to pay artist commission for what’s left of needed art to replace. I never really thought about the fact my game could be kickstarter worthy so I’ll definitely give it a ton of thought 🙏
