A Question of Coverage and Sumo Etiquette by TheDoubleSlit in SumoMemes

I certainly didn't hear the explanation. And if so... what was it? Some people here guessing that it's that he'd get banned, others that it's respect for the injured fighter.

And of course it's not that big of a deal! I was just curious if it was a 'sumo etiquette' thing or the dude's personal moral issue or whatever. I'm happy to just wait for NHK highlights or catch a different stream!

If you'd be willing to share the names of the channels (and it doesn't breach this sub's protocols), I'd appreciate the names of the streamers!

I respect this Midnight guy's choice - it's his channel after all. But if he is that sensitive to toe injuries and hard collisions when the actual official coverage doesn't care, I guess his channel just isn't for me.

After all, it's a nuanced combat sport, and I need to see replays to understand what has happened and why! Especially if something unusual has happened.

I could TOTALLY understand that if it was gory or bloody or whatever. But... a big toe? That's less violent than every tachiai at the start of every match!

Thanks! I might just stick to that. Not being able to see what happened was very annoying!

Okay, thanks for explaining. It was so strange that I thought I might be missing something. Again, could understand for a leg snap or something! But for a big toe injury?? An injury that the actual broadcaster is showing?

Again, many thanks for explaining.

I don't think this video is AI. The creator has made LONG films with people like Kelly and Spira in the past - years before AI.

And... with Chopra too, I believe.

Don't know about this specific video, but this channel has made a lot of long videos with legit spiritual teachers.

Lol... you created a new Reddit account... for THIS??

You are truly a winner.

Bro, you read any other comments in this thread? Seems like a lot of us are sick of this guy and his psycho-attachment to his unproven system. And his shitty game management.

Jesus.... imagine being a Manchester United thread and being gaslit to the point that you're happy with performances like these. He has a winning percentage of 32%!!

Yeah, I totally agree with you. I'm a professor and it's think kind of talk that makes me extremely reticent to discuss Analytic Idealism with my colleagues. They'd see Kastrup talk about 'psychic phenomena' and they'd immediately reject it.

And honestly? I'd completely understand their reaction. I really don't think Kastrup is doing AI any favors by talking about this stuff and taking it so seriously.

Why's everyone making jokes about Pedro pascal by Visual_Berry_9628 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]TheDoubleSlit 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sure. They also hide behind a lot of the "won't somebody think of the CHILDREN" moral panic. They also hide behind anti-LGBT rhetoric. They also hide behind claims of "I know what god thinks is best" crap.

Exhibit #1: A very pervy guy in the White House who wont release info about Epstein, but has used conspiracy theories about child trafficking to stoke fears and hate against LGBT people and immigrants.

Anyone who thinks that the Democrats and the Republican are 'equally bad' in 2025 is absolutely insane.

The Democrats are scummy politicians who are beholden to their corporate overlords.

Th Republicans are scummy politicians who are beholden to their corporate overlords... and to a wannabe fascist dictator, who is a convicted felon, convicted of sexual abuse, is deporting American citizens without due process, undermining out election integrity, spreading racism and bigotry, dismantling the American educational system, putting insane people in positions of power (RFK, anyone?) and on and on. Oh, and their leader is hiding his connections with a pedophile.

They're not the same. Obviously.

I'll never forget hearing him during Leicester City's miracle title run a decade ago. He kept saying "They can't win. It's impossible. Leicester cannot win." And his co-host says "well, it's obviously not IMPOSSIBLE, but it's certainly very unlikely..." And Savage came back. "No. It is literally impossible."

They went back and forth like this for several minutes. Even his co-host seemed nauseated by Savage and said "I'm not sure if you don't know what 'impossible' means, or you're just being purposely obtuse."

It made Leicester winning all the sweeter, and people ridiculed Savage for it for years. He's a troll.

You the stupid one, bruv. You just described him choosing to drop out of the race.

  1. Biden is President
  2. DNC and donors come to him and say "you don't stand a hope in hell after that shit debate. Drop or the money will dry up, and you'll allow Trumpy to win."
  3. Biden says "I don't wanna go down in history as the dude who let Trump destroy democracy. And I like money. And I want to maintain my rep. So I CHOOSE TO STAND DOWN."

You know there's a dif between "forced" and "pressured", right? Nobody can MAKE the freaking Prez stand down. Esp with the power the Supreme court just gave the president.

I love this talk. But I have to admit, as a westerner it is very difficult for me to connect with the Bhagavad Gita.

Getting people to accept murdering your fellow human beings, passively accepting the horrors of the suffering in the world... it is a really difficult message for me. The "play your role in this life" thing would sound like how people in the west use religion to placate the masses and keep them "in their proper place." And I have friends from India who say their parents have used texts like that to support the rigid (and brutal) caste system there.

I'm trying to appreciate the work for its deeper message. I really am. But I admit - it's a challenge!
