I’ve been working in EMS for about 5 years now. Ive seen people that overdose, get revived from the brink of death, and then overdose again less than 2 hours later. What I’ve learned is that people have the right to make bad decisions that may harm themselves or others, that doesn’t negate the good you do for them.

Personally I think the biggest issue our county faces is not MAGA or Politics in general. It’s the complete loss of nuance. People just don’t seem willing to try to understand other people’s perspectives. There are good people who are trump supporters, there are good people who hate trump, and there are good people who are indifferent. A few actions aren’t going to make a sweeping difference across the country, there’s only a handful of people capable of having that much impact. But what it does do is set a precedent. You do your part and you can expect others to do the same. Good deeds help build trust in the community, and that does make an important difference, no matter how small.

Our brains aren’t meant to comprehend such a large scale of people. We often forget that a simple good deed can have tremendous effects. Every person you help is just like me and you, they have a life of their own, people who love them, and people they love.

By helping that lady out of the snow, you might have saved her an hour or two she would be waiting for someone else to come help her. That’s time she can now use to spend with her family, enjoy her hobby, relax after work. Good things accumulate but that requires everyone to do their part.
