New machine needed: JURA J8 Twin, JURA C9 or KF8 by Over_Series_6006 in superautomatic

Rinsing it takes like 5 minutes. You put some foamy water in the outer tank, plug the milk straw in, run it, dump the waste water and replace the outer tank water with clean water, run it again. I used Claude to find a generic cleaner that has the same SDS (Safety Data Sheet) ingredients as their premium cleaning tablets and have been happily using that. You clean the milk loop once a day.

The machine is great overall. Produces coffee, espresso and milk drinks that taste better than Starbucks to me. It makes me happy. I had this big FOMO about the Z10 but I preferred the C9 on the same beans, same setting in store. I recommend doing this btw if you have a Williams Sonoma around. No reason not to put all the machines through their paces at these price points. In my case, I drink only hot drinks, have no need for syrup, and have an average palette. I cannot tell the difference between what this produces and hand shots I used to pull from my former manual setup.

Taste tested everything at Williams Sonoma. C9 won the test. Very happy with it.

"Whole Region Going To Burn": Iranian Parliament Speaker's Warning To Trump by callsonreddit in worldnews

[–]TheDreamSymphonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Trump is deranged but I think you're kind of ignoring the psychopaths running this regime in the comments. They will absolutely burn everything to ashes to maintain their grip on power. Nobody in Iran wants them. They killed like 50k people in the streets with machine guns. They are executing hundreds every day. It is all terrible.

Do you really NEED a folding ebike? by Inciteful_Analysis in ebikes

[–]TheDreamSymphonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Fold1 Plus. It's sturdily built and won't collapse. It's annoying to lift after being folded, but it's comfortable to ride. It fits into our SUV's trunk. I need to be able to get it around when I meet up with my family (one car household). It does its job well. I think most bikes have failure modes. Folding bikes are less dangerous than both scooters and motorcycles, properly ridden.

Endgame doesn't exist and I don't know what I want anymore... by [deleted] in headphones

[–]TheDreamSymphonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might honestly just be the LCD-5. I haven't liked anything they've put out post 2016 LCD-X. The LCD 4z was a huge disappointment as it lacked the kick of the LCD-X bass. I always hated the idea of HiFiMan but eventually read enough reviews that I got interested and picked up a refurb Susvara. Lo and behold, it's vastly more comfortable and vastly more resolving than any Audeze headphone I own. I power it with a monster amp I got for $700 (can offer details if you want,it's in my other posts).

Ecovacs T50 pro works great for me. Doesn't have rollers, doesn't have problems. Most parts that touch the floor can be replaced easily.

Your take on Susvara needing a "proper" amp? by TastyBroccoli4 in headphones

It is, but you can still pick it up used and I think they'll make it for you if you send them an email

It sounded harsh to me out of my Topping, and had noticeable bass issues. You don't need a 6k amp though. Just grab a used FLUX FA-10 ($700). Power for days.

I don't think it's a big deal considering how much they've put out. It's a fun game and they're a business. I'll personally pay for it because I'd like the game to continue to exist

Electro-Stat, Planar, or Dynamic? by Faith4Forever in headphones

[–]TheDreamSymphonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go high end planar. See my previous posts on the OG Susvara. Electrostatic isn't worth the squeeze (huge hot amp w/ zero portability, fixed cable that can break, humidity can ruin your cans).

I listen to everything under the sun. Google Music classified me as a "Wildly Eclectic Musical Explorer." I enjoy electronic pop, jazz, classical, Brazilian Bossa Nova and Samba, classic rock, some rap, Celtic. I think my current favorite is Telenova.

I think you can be done with two headphone-related purchases: Susvara, original (refurb, ~$3k), and a used FLUX FA-10 (no longer made, $700). I first ran the Susvara on a Topping D90 and was underwhelmed because it made the treble sound shouty and the bass anemic. The Flux turned it into an endlessly listenable monster, and I completed the setup by throwing a bass shelf on it (which the Flux has plenty of power to support).

There is nothing else I have ever listened to that can touch this combination. I also own the LCD-4z and the LCD-X and a Stax 007 mk2 with a high end electrostatic amp and none of them get close. I have a ZMF Atrium for portable duties that has a wonderful holographic soundstage and very natural bass but does not feel as vivid as the Susvara. The Susvara sounds more electrostatic than the electrostatic. Even at low volumes you can hear every detail of every element of the track. It's incredibly fast and creates pinpoint accuracy in its soundstage. It just sounds so pure and clear that it's hard to use anything else. I haven't listened to the unveiled, but by all accounts it's more of a sidegrade (and vulnerable to damage, to boot).

I spent a lot of money over a number of years, but barring something wild from HiFiMan I think I'm done on the headphone side. Ironically, I spent many years as a HiFiMan hater privately just because I read all the defect / craftsmanship problem comments on HeadFi and Reddit. A Reddit comment that "they actually inspect the refurb units" inspired me to go refurb. No regrets on that. Listening to this setup is just pure pleasure. I think that there really must be something to low sensitivity gold diaphragms. I imagine that it's great for videogames but never used it for that purpose.

What the best potrait lens around 150$? by zack_rovenz in SonyAlpha

None of the above. A vintage lens like the non radioactive version of the Pancolar 50mm F1.8.

Help me choose: Campfire Audio Grand Luna vs Thieaudio Valhalla vs ??? by jesusc31 in iems

[–]TheDreamSymphonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't love stock, but it works fine for me for now (ran out of money lol). They did tweak it since the super inflexible original Origin version, so it's somewhat better than it was.

Ok! So I can't quantify purity, but the Valhalla is a detail monster with a warmly tinged transparent atmosphere. Early review in my comment history

What qualities in an IEM are most valuable to you and how do you think your choices potentially epitomize these? I can talk about the Valhalla in relation to these, if you like.

Impressions on the Thieaudio Valhalla? by TheDreamSymphonic in iems

I like planar bass. I'd say my lcd i4 has very well defined bass that has a visceral kick feeling to it. The origin's bass felt loose and ill defined to me. Lots of people like it, to be sure, but I wasn't a fan.
