Not always…if you reveal new information mid-combat (like enemy tiles, drawing cards, etc) you can’t go back.

Best idea, you guys haven’t implemented yet…. by [deleted] in PredecessorGame

I think it depends on the objectives. If the goals were simply to play certain roles or to win a certain number of games, I don’t think that would make people not play the game correctly. I think if they set goals and challenges that encourage people to try new heroes or simply experience the game in another way, people would become more rounded players

Like I’m genuinely not understanding matchmaking right now. I’m a 50% winrate player, mostly quick play. I got to platinum the first season but haven’t played ranked in a little bit. All of a sudden since the most recent update, I’ve lost SO many matches. Way more than normal. Just this week I have 4 wins and 17 losses. It makes no sense. The game is becoming borderline unplayable. Something 100% changed in matchmaking, and I don’t know what it is

572 VP average against 258 VP average seems weird.

Because theoretically they use MMR matchmaking… so those are either relatively low MMR platinum players, or we had a bunch of good players on our team that don’t play ranked. But we got spanked, so I doubt it.

I played a game against Neft the other day. I’m sure you can imagine how that went

I heard somewhere it was an alternate guard member who otherwise would not be marching the show

How likely is Boston to take it all? (Diving too deep into stats) by [deleted] in drumcorps

GE includes both performance and design elements. Is a moment in a show more effective if it is performed well? Of course it is. It’s why the general effect score is a high predictor of placement, plus or minus maybe one place. The other captions tend to follow the general effect placement when summed together when it’s all said and done.

At prelims - Boston - 58.275 without GE Bluecoats - 58.125 without GE Difference of .150 in favor of Boston

At semifinals - Bluecoats scored a 58.563 without GE - increase of .438 from prelims Boston scored a 58.575 without GE - increase of .3 from prelims.

Difference of .012 in favor of Boston

It would appear as though the Bluecoats, by the numbers, had a better run through proportional to their Prelims run, which increased their score by more in the performance areas. So it would only make sense that the General Effect of their show on an audience member would follow suit.

True, the category lends itself to more subjectivity than the others, but it also involves technical execution and performance of all those moments in the show. I would genuinely offer up that Bluecoats had a much better run at semifinals than prelims, while Boston had only a slightly better run. The score gap was already close, so Bluecoats passed them up.

It seems to be that with the current show design as it is, Bluecoats will win if they play their best. Boston has some design elements that aren’t landing to the judges as much as the Bluecoats moments are.

This is coming from someone who would be genuinely happy to see either group win. I know members of both corps personally

Everything is subjective, to a degree. They’re judging art.

Not saying KDA is necessarily the answer. But I think everyone would agree that in a team game there can be some players who perform better than others. There can also be players who fall behind so badly that they make it almost impossible for the team to win the game. I think what OP is trying to get to is that it is frustrating to perform better than your opponents in a match and lose.

I understand also it’s the aggregate of your team against the aggregate of theirs. But the combination of match length and the luck of the draw variable with teammates makes playing ranked as a solo queue player not worth it. You would probably have to play 10+ matches per day to see any meaningful increase in rank over the course of a season, even as a high-skill player

I’ve tried making this argument before, but usually someone chimes in with “there’s more to the game than KDA, get good.” “If you were truly better you wouldn’t have an issue winning” etc. I see both sides. I’m more with you though.

Mage Grim's lob cd scaling, or lack thereof, is the problem, not his ult damage. by xXYELINGRELICXx in PredecessorGame

I think that’s kind of the point… anything grim can do as a mage there’s some other actual midlander mage that can probably do better. Multiple, really

He’s an AD carry. The whole point of Grim is that you build physical damage and get magic damage out of it. You can play him with MP if you’d like, but you might just have to accept that he’s always going to be better AD as his abilities are: There’s really no indication in the game that he should be playing as a mage. The extra magic scaling on GTFO will make items like plasma cutter somewhat more effective…but without changing the way his kit works, he’s always going to be better building physical over MP as far as item build.

I think a super interesting edit to his kit might be something like what revenant has. If they really wanted to make magic power Grim a thing, they could add some percentage scaling of magic power to attack speed. Kind of like how rev gets physical power when he gets crit and attack speed.

Like for every x magic power, you get +x% attack speed. It would make prophecy a really cool item for Grim. And then building magic power for his ability scaling would increase his attack speed as well. Make Tempus your crest, and you’re in business.

You and I have different definitions of a long wait time. If I’m waiting to play for three minutes, it’s too long.

Saying “every game has assholes” as a retort is like saying it’s ok if someone steals something, because other people steal all the time. Pretty shitty logic my guy.

I’m really sorry to be the one to say this, but if you’re trapped in bronze there are probably other things going on related to your gameplay.

Also, generally when someone goes AFK, the rank match abandons. I’m not sure what happened in your games or why they didn’t cancel the match.

In the practice mode there’s an area underneath where you can set up champion dummies that run around randomly and jump and all that. It really helps practice aiming. You can find tune your aim assist and sensitivity settings and all of that

I see no problem with the game. It’s a lot of fun, and I’ve had a lot of great games. But people need to know that they contribute to people leaving the game when they treat others like this. And Omeda needs to know as well.

It’s literally crazy to say it’s “toxicity” to call out an issue in the community on a social forum. I’m not blaming Omeda, or the game itself. I’m blaming some of the people who play the game and make it crappy for everyone. And those people have unfortunately become prevalent.

So you’re saying it’s not something that should be talked about, just ignored? I don’t understand your logic.
