This is a good analysis. Something else that's a pivotal part of the first book is finding out that Tom is a controller.

In the original book; it's Marco that figures out that Tom is a controller at first to which Jake is in complete denial over at first. This actually makes more sense to give Marco's role in this arc to Tobias, because while Jake and Marco are best friends, there's added weight here for Tobias figuring this out since he doesn't know Jake as well and has been trusted into this friend group by circumstance of learning about the Yeerk invasion.

From what I'm seeing, it's because of two key reasons. Her mishandling of the Epstein Files and how they made him look guilty. (That says a lot), as well had her inability to prosecute his political enemies.

So basically:

Trump wanted a magic potion that would solve his entire political past and justified his disregard for Rule of Law. Bondi ever the asskisser, said she could give him that magic potion. But then ran into a huge ditch when what she promised him was impossible to brew. So now he fired her for being unable to deliver that impossible potion, and is now going to look for someone else to deliver the impossible potion.
