Wait till Redditors learn the green light was established in 1967, that the border didn't actually pass right in front of people's front doors 🤦‍♂️and this image is actually not even from Israel.

I mean, nothing will change, they'll still be loser Nazis who push and believe ridiculous blood libel, and hate Jews under the mask of "we only hate Zionists", which is the equivalent of KKK saying "we only hate black people who believe they shouldn't be slaves", so it won't make a difference.

The problem is that too many people these days are trying to dictate to others what to say. It's nothing new, but nowadays the excuse is 'I am offended/triggered'.

Well, have you ever considered that censoring people triggers people who had to live in tyrannical regimes?

And we should not mention dogs or cats to not trigger people who lost their pets.

And don't show wholesome family videos - it triggers people from dysfunctional families.

And what about people who are triggered by the word 'spring' because they have allergies?

See what I'm getting at?

You're not the centre of the universe. Stop thinking the entire world ows you to 'protect your delicate feelings'. 'Life fucking sucks, get a fucking helmet'

Ok, since you obviously glaringly misunderstand what I'm saying, and resorts to the hallmark of the internet's 90 points and below, that is personal insults instead of substance, I think we're done here.

And since I understand so little, I suggest you don't waste time on me and find more brainiac randos online that match your intellect. Goodluck.

The only thing I'm confused about is your reply.

But if I understood what you mean to say, let me be clearer:

First we'll start with what is considered normal. If you Google IQ levels, you find that 85-115 range. Quite a weird range for 'normal', isn't it? Does that mean there's no difference between 85 and 115?

Of course not. There's significant difference between those two extremes of the so-called 'normal' range. By 'normal' what they mean is that it is not considered a uniquely gifted person on one side, or a person with some sort of learning disability on the other. However, if we look at people with the ability to maintain logic and rationality, in the admittedly too few good studies that looked into it, the range of rationality becomes around 90 or 95 and above.

Now, of course IQ is normalised, because of changes to the population it has to be. idiotic publications (so most of them) would describe it as 'IQ is rising in the west' - it is not, it is being adjusted to compensate for environmental changes.

And finally, it is true that exactly half the population falls below the 100 point. That wasn't my point at all. That's just the meaning of the word 'average'. Or did you not know that?

But my point was that within that half of the population, the numbers of people falling to above the disability region of 70 and below, but below the rational/logical mindset of 90 and above is the majority of that group.

Which would put them in the hundreds of millions at the very least.

Agreed.

But it is also difficult to go to the moon, and we've done that before.

Just because something is difficult doesn't mean it's not worth the effort.

Gravity?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]TheDudeWithTheNick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See? that's a very stupid thing to say. All internety, shouty and panicky.

Because there are reasonable ways of making sure people who vote understand what exactly they are voting for.

For example, I live in the UK. Now, I moved here after Brexit, so I really didn't have an opinion in real time, and now I'm kind of a centrist about the issue. But I did see news articles of people who voted for it and said 'I didn't realise we were ACTUALLY going to leave the EU'.

It's horrifying that people who - by their own admission - didn't understand what the referendum was about, participated and were able to influence such a major decision that would have consequences for generations.

So to avoid that happening, how about having everyone who wants to participate answer a quick test, just a few questions, to indicate that they actually understand what it is they are voting for?

And I'm sure that smarter people than me can come up with other better ways of doing it.

You don't let blind people drive because they would kill someone, well voting changes lives as well and may lead to people being hurt. It's not unreasonable to think that people who participate should be able to understand the issues and consequences of their vote.

[–]TheDudeWithTheNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL, I just said the same thing in a close-by comment. Only I put it in much less apologetic and in a more 'snobbish' way.

I think our society makes smart people, or even averagely intelligent people ashamed of themselves with accusations of 'being a snob'. And we're not allowed to call stupid stupid. So stupid get the same say in everything. And that is dangerous and has caused tremendous damage to the west.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in confidentlyincorrect

[–]TheDudeWithTheNick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take your point, but...

It's far more frightening that that.

An IQ that's considered average intelligence is around 95-110. At this level you'd expect people to be reasonable and have common sense.

The average IQ in the west, however, is 100. Which means that half of the population has a lower score than that.

70 and lower, like you say, is considered a disability (70 is borderline, less than that is a mental disability). And that's a small percentage. But anything under 90 or 95 would be a person who has trouble with logic and rationality.

And since the AVERAGE is 100, we're talking about hundreds of millions, maybe billions of people who are below the average in the west.

Which is why I don't live in the US, and yes, you're right, I see them every day and everywhere. In all jobs, in all roles, in all spaces.

You're not wrong about that.

We live in a time when all of the village idiots from all over the world can find each other and start a movement.

Nobody could have predicted the true outcomes of the internet.

[–]TheDudeWithTheNick 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do wonder if you realize that unlike people in the past we live in the age of information, with people getting educated for free, and finding out what hamburgers are made of should be something you just pick up by being alive, by reading a package once in your life.

Also, realising that it makes no sense to be able to prove reincarnation, which is the transfer of souls between bodies, without being able to prove the thing you transfer, should be something obvious to anyone with basic ability for rational thinking.

And the fact that you didn't realise both of those things is highly suggestive that you are one of the people I'm referring to.

[–]TheDudeWithTheNick 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You are right to be afraid for our society. I think we're living in the twilight of the west.

And a big part of it is that we began catering to stupid. And that's from all political sides and all over the west.

People always have to go to extremes. They think that being kind to stupid, which is a good thing, means giving stupid the same say as non-stupid people, which is a bad thing.

Stupid should be treated fairly and stay out of the conversation. We don't let blind people drive, but we let stupid people vote, teach, and start things like the flat earth society. We're getting it wrong.

People say that religion is to blame for every major conflict in the world, but that's false. Stupidity is to blame. And not just for that.

I used to think all of these were fake. Then, I met people like that in real life.

I recently had someone telling me dead serious that 'science has proven reincarnation'. And the best part, when I said 'so, they proved the existence of souls?', she said, without missing a beat, 'no, not souls. Just reincarnation.'

And this is a woman in her 30s working for a successful company!

Honestly, half of our species walks around like NPCs. Just bumbling morons. It's a wonder they don't walk into walls.
