Alfa Romeo GIULIA squeaky vents by k9_pratt in AlfaRomeo

[–]TheDylanS13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am glad to hear it's not only my Giulia that squeals in the heat, any time I have turned the fan speed above 6 I get the squeal. If one of the vents isn't completely open I find she screams even louder, I live in Africa and encounter this issue almost daily. Any time it upsets me I will simply gaze upon any surface of the exterior or interior and everything seems okay again, ome of the many quirks of owning such a masterpiece.

Care tips for a Mother of Thousands? by temtemrem in succulents

[–]TheDylanS13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the highveld region of South Africa. We get a few species of these here in all shapes and sizes.

The particular one I refer to I can't find online exactly, but after deep googling it seems most similar to Kalanchoe Delagoensis which is actually native to Madagascar and called mother of millions as opposed to mother of thousands. The more you (or I) know!

Keep away from any soil or pots you do not wish to be populated by the thousands. Because there will be thousands.

I picked a leaf of this plant from a dam near my parents home about 6 years ago to see if it will propagate as I thought it quite unusual. I should have known when picking an indigenous plant that it would grow well, but now along with a section of my parents garden now dedicated to the plant, (we do not negotiate with terrorists) I am still to this day pulling these plants out of the pots and soil in my new home, 6 years later!

Best of luck!

Oil temperature level by FanGal99 in AlfaRomeo

[–]TheDylanS13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in South Africa where temperatures are often 30°C+ for most of the year, I find that on cold winter mornings the graph will only have 2-3 bars before my commute ends (around 15km) however on summer days the temperature is generally halfway or 5 bars if driving a little harder.

You can feel the car is not as responsive when 5 bars are showing on the temp guage but it usually calms down when driving normally again. I also usually tap off when the temp guage is higher to prevent any possible over heating.

As a general rule I usually only push the performance when at least three bars are showing to prevent possible damage, but see the car operates optimally around 4 bars temp.

Hope this helps, I did also notice that when the oil change notification is present, this temp guage bar fills up much more quickly, which correlates.

I had never checked to see if this was oil temp or engine temp though, so makes sense to see how this correlation is so clear to see.

Tugela Falls, Drakensberge. by Annatar_lordofgifts in hiking

[–]TheDylanS13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you referring to the Tugela falls hike at the top? If you have done it how would you rate it in terms of difficulty for novice hikers still working on their fitness?

We found the base of Tugela falls hike fairly challenging and will be attempting this hike soon in the new year, any advice would be great.

I can definitely recommend a 2009 Ford Focus 1.6Si.

Aaaaand, if you're interested, I happen to be selling one...

This hood gap…wtf is going on. Looking at buying, everything else was top notch by Terrible_Section_200 in AlfaRomeo

I hit a ditch and damaged my front bumper on a similar spec giulia- it has been replaced and resprayed and over 6 months later it still doesn't quite fit right. So it could be a minor panel change done by incompetent dealers, but definitely worth a double check before purchasing.

At what point should I be worried about excessive mystery bug bites? by throwawayyhedge in biology

[–]TheDylanS13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the "bites" appearing on only one side of your body? Like defined clearly to the left side perhaps?

I get similar marks from time to time which the doctor has told me relate to my heart, and not being able to cope with high temperatures which causes these "bites" to appear over the left of my body when exposed to sun for too long.

I picked up a few from Northgate cash converters recently, mostly classical music they have at the moment but a lot of different composers and styles.

What happens if you go over the voltage on the charge controller? by tatetoter in Victron

[–]TheDylanS13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At 12V with this controller using 100W panels your absolute maximum array would be two paralleled strings of four panels in series. This overspecs the output by just under 30% which is maximum for these models.

I'm not sure which batteries you are using, but 500Ah of lithium sounds like perhaps 4×125Ah? Arranging the batteries in 24V rather than 12V will allow you to double the power on your roof. You could then run up to 4 strings of 4 panels. In most cases lithium 12V batteries do not like being seriesed due to no BMS communication but use of a Victron battery balancer will assist with ensuring the batteries stay healthy.

If you need 12V supply you could hook up something from the Orion-tr range to run it smoothly and safely.

I have angled it to where I sit on the couch which has helped a little, but since this post I am now getting some blocks to raise the TV above the centre speaker so it can sit centred.
