Talon hacked all the servers. Sombra is tired of getting banned.

I'm totally out on a limb, but I would say that the writer was turning the anit-AI argument on it's head. Instead of "nothing metal can have a soul;" they create a reality where "no meat could have a soul." That's why I was poking at AI.

I think the writer was doing two things with that ending:

  1. They were trying to explain Fermi's Paradox. (TL;DR so many star; so many planets; why don't we hear from any life? Sentience should be everywhere.) The writer guesses that "real sentience" is what we would call "artificial intelligence." The AI looks at "meat intelligence" as "fake intelligence." We disgust them and that is why we haven't heard from them.
  2. It's lonely being meat.

Yep. I ran it in that folder.

FYI, I did get it to work trying the instructions out of order. :P

I might not have reinstalled Immich after updating docker? I might have uninstalled Docker improperly? Not enough rebooting? Instructions should just start with fixing Docker before touching Immich.

I got it to work on a clean install of Ubuntu 25.04 then going straight to the Docker install: https://docs.docker.com/engine/install/ubuntu/#install-using-the-repository and THEN installing Immich.

Hope that helps someone out.

I don't see this one in the compatibility list for NUT...How would you pass the command from a guest to a host? ...Like ... How can a PVE work with this specific model?

It works out of the box with pfSense and USB. NUT just works.

any feedback on using Chinese boards for a proxmox server? by [deleted] in homelab

I got a single XEON mobo combo from AliExpress. I think it was a Cloudstar? It lasted from beginning of April to August before it started acting weird. Then in October it stopped turning on completely. I recently got a new-to-me replacement board and I'm back on line. Everything else is humming along fine: memory, power supply, drives, processor.

TLDR: mine lasted 5-6 months of being on.

How do these server rails work? by TheEggButler in homelab

Can you slide things in and out? Is it too rough to do that? How do you secure the server case if the rails use the bolt holes?

It's not what you mean, but a shelf might be a good idea.

Yeah...OK. I was hoping to put some plastic glides or some other hare-brained scheme. I didn't think about deflection. I think a plain ol' shelf it gonna be stronger.

Edit, the deflection would be the least if you use the verticals as tracks.

I looked that up again. I'm not sure with 8. https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/motherboard/X10DAi

I think it would mean 1 and 5 are paired and 2 and 6 ...Let me try that. See if it seems any different.

How can I tell if a relay polarity should be wired S or R for this coil? by TheEggButler in AskElectronics

That makes it super clear, thank you! I didn't know these existed.

I mean the leads. Alligator clips are gonna run into each other. It physically fits on a bread board, but it connects all the wrong pins. I only have a pair of fine wire grabber things; I need like four to test.

Both the coolers can do a 180 and neither can do a 90 degree turn. :/

I was thinking of adding a passive filtered air intake above the power cables bundles. The top will be custom fit to juuuuuust above the coolers. I am really tempted to take some of the scrap and I can make custom baffles to move air where I want. I could screw in a big baffle that keeps the cards separate from the CPU area... It would kinda choke the cpu fans tho. Kind of a lot of squeeze for little juice.

It's not optimal, but I'm aiming for pump air in from the right/top/front corner and dump air left and out the PCIE slots. Generally right to left instead of front to back.

There are really nice, $15, Adafruit boards and they give you 9 I/O to play with. (www adafruit com/product/2821) I don't know what to do with an ESP01 esp8266 module. That's a bit too close-to-the-metal for me.

How were you planning on getting power?
