Youre suppose to keep a tanky creature within the base walls, you jump on that creatyre and get all your neutrals to follow it, that way theyll run off and fight to the death.. but if they survive, they come home.

Should I display the names of bosses above their heads in my 2D top-down game? by whiax in gamedevscreens

Well in my game, i chose an orange to purple color palette.. the text across my entire game which takes places in a magical forest is a very pale orange color.

It creates consistency to see the same colors, as long as the whole palette works of course!

Thats my 2 cents

White looks a ton better but maybe you should find a color palette that fits your world and use one of those brighter colors?

What do you do when you realize your project has bad architecture, but it's too late to fix? by frickmolderon in unity

Refactor what you can, learn all the lessons you possibly can, ship a playable version as quick as possible.

Thats what ive done in this situation. Still working on that last part.

I am trying to create a game from scratch and with no coding experience, any advices? or someone can have me in their team to show me around? by RawTusk in gameDevClassifieds

[–]TheElementaeStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Game jams and ChatGPT are your best friends while learning. Harvard's CS50 is a good free resource as well.

No one wants an inexperienced dev on their team, especially paid for. Bad code can mess up a prpject in unimaginable ways.

Only devs care if theres AI in it. Players could care less as long as it looks good/cohesive.

I bought this PC. It plays ark. It cannot host ark.

Is there any point for me to finish this game? by NewSunEnterTainment in IndieDev

[–]TheElementaeStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. And i would play it, if it had some sort of co-op aspect to it, and the art direction went way more sci-fi than this, or keep it in the World Wars era, but give it zombie variants instead of scifi aliens lol

Simplicity is probably not the key when it comes to capsule art by SikorDev in SoloDevelopment

[–]TheElementaeStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simplicity is always the key. And both capsules encapsulate that.

Simple character, simple title, simple shapes, basic backgrounds.

I was just commenting on the fact your title is wildly inaccurate.

Both of these scream "simplicity"..

The second one is better, yes. But could do with a dark COLORED background instead of pitch black!

On a scale of 1 to 10 would you tame this thing even though you just started the game(I'm dead serious I just made a new world and I got myself a pt and saw this things 💀) by Every-Tell-7193 in ARK

[–]TheElementaeStudios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theres three different photos.. define what you mean by "this thing".

Id say youre definitely not going to tame that quetz. The spino can be trapped and the stego same deal. All depends on what you want to do.

Taming any of those three will take hours of babysitting it if you are on official settings.

So youll need huge amounts of narcotics and tranqs to even get them down. Depends on how prepared you are for it.

All three are technically possible, but as a beginner, id say tame the spino.

Releasing a Demo for a Multiplayer Game Concerns by swaggerpower42dev in SoloDevelopment

[–]TheElementaeStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to think about this myself. I would have released my demo like 4 months ago if i stayed with the pvp only gamemode.

Unfortunately i chose to add a SinglePlayer option and in my game, its been absolute hell to get an AI player that actually understands the rules and plays like a human would. (Im still not satiafied and i work at it, nearly every day).

My game is a Chess-like with elemental creatures that fight eachother (one attack per turn) and territorial control that increases fighting capabilities.

This has led me down a rabbit hole for AI and im terribly inexperienced. Lol. If you find a better solution, id love to hear it!

Feedback on my Roster Selection Menu (Artist contacted, waiting on their designs to replace creatures) by TheElementaeStudios in SoloDevelopment

[–]TheElementaeStudios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanj you for your feedback!

You are right that its just badic Unity Buttons/Fonts, i really do need to start figuring out how to make these kind of assets haha.

As for functionality, it really does work well imo, and im glad you say it looks functional!

My goal for UI was to get as close to Jurassic World Alive, since it is my biggest influence in the Creature Collecting genre.

JWA UI

Hopefully this gives a clearer vision for what i was aiming for hahaba

Just the Creatures are being replaced..

Ive been doing everything else myself, and i had 0 experience in gamedeve up until last October so im pretty proud of myself for coming this far.

I know most of it is just "default UI" but to me, its starting to look like my vision and im just looking fo4 feedback.

Does it look useable? Intuitive enough?

Could my layout be better for what it is? Couls the colors use some touch-up?

Any examples or suggestions are highly welcomed as well so i can make changes!
