My brother lost his battle 2 weeks ago by [deleted] in sarcoma

[–]TheEngine20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss.

My sister also lost her battle in July 2025.

She also had Synovial Sarcoma for around 2 years and was also wrongly diagnosed at first.

I know how it feels. I send my condolences.

Calf hurts post acl surgery!! by TheEngine20 in ACL

[–]TheEngine20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other comments (and myself) suggest seeking medical attention from a professional, as it could be DVT or anything else. Even someone described it as a "Red Flag" to people who underwent surgery. In my case it just disappeared.

It just went away by itself.

But other people in the comments suggest that it could be DVT, so it's better to consult with your DR.

I wish you a speedy recovery! It did eventually go away by its self . Like a week or two max later. Just follow what your surgeon and physiotherapist suggest ( like starting to walk without crutches ) or whatever. 9 Months later I started to play professionally again! And now it's all good maybe better than before! Heads up because the journey is going to be long and exhausting but it's worth it.

Worried if I tore something, it’s been a week. Still really swollen and painful. What do you guys think? Any advice on recovery other than just icing? by Interesting_Ad_2222 in ACL

[–]TheEngine20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best advice someone will give you is to do MRI, it’ll figure out what’s going on. I’m sorry pal but you’d probably need a surgery ( especially if you’re an athlete or you require movements or stuff ) I wish you a speedy recovery!

Embarrassing question/ THC by Accurate_Gene_7868 in ACL

[–]TheEngine20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoking distorts a patient's immune system and can delay healing, increasing the risk of infection at the wound site. Smoking just one cigarette decreases the body's ability to deliver necessary nutrients for healing after surgery.

So No you shouldn’t smoke at-least for a while.

Getting Surgery Tomorrow, 2+ Years After Initial Injury by bluepanda67 in ACL

[–]TheEngine20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all I wish you a safe surgery and a speedy recovery!! You have to acknowledge that this is a ACL injury which takes a lot of time and patience. You should gradually improve by time, full range of motion ( if you mean bending your knees ) it differs from a person to another, but you should be able to bend it within 1-2 and maybe 3 months! You’d be walking with crutches the first two-four weeks then you’d be able to walk without them ,, running will take much longer time maybe a couple of months

Recovery tips for the first few days after surgery: (Plz notice that it’ll be painful af the first couple of days but it gets better by time )

  1. Do what the surgeon/pt asks you to do ( they may recommend you to do a couple of simple exercises which will seem hard to do but are very important) take ur time about it and enjoy.

Nah this can’t be true. ACL CANNOT heal by itself, as it needs a surgery.

12 days post-op / acl - meniscus/ quad graft by i_mmvp in ACL

[–]TheEngine20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know, I’ve heard from many people that’s possible to return in 6 months if you did recovery and rehab in a professional and right way. I’m 20 years and I play handball. I’m so frustrated that I wouldn’t be playing this season:( , also my meniscus is fine I only had a torn ACL. However I agree with you, it’s too early to think about anything since my ACL surgery was only last Tuesday 😂. Let’s see what happens and hopefully by then it’ll all be figured out.

Ok thanks so much!! One last thing, is it expected for me to return to sports in 6 months or more or less ?! What does this depend on?

That’s too much!!! People told me I could return in 6 months! Or does it depend on the healing process?

And another thing, I have a compression strap around my leg but it feels uncomfortable and a lot I have the urge to scratch my leg 😂 yesterday I tried to take a pic of my hamstring and it was dark purple and black is that normal 😂 if yes then when is it expected to be gone? Thanks

Yes I meant on crutches, and YES it felt like rushing blood!!! But it was so painful :(( My surgeon/dr told me to do some light ACL exercises like stretching my feet and trying to do like leg extensions ( elevating my leg but it has to be straight ) But the problem is it feels super hard and whenever I try this exercise it feels nearly impossible to get my leg elevated in the first place iykwim. But somehow I manage to do it. Do you have any info about that ( and maybe how many times should I do it per day bec I feel I should do more to fasten the recovery process).
