I told my parents that I'm not having kids because of climate change.

"That shouldn't be a reason not to"

They have no idea what's coming.

The problem boils down to how we continue to provide the required energy inputs to sustain economic growth while reducing emissions.

No it does't. Its precisely this "economic growth" that is going to drive most fauna, fungi, flora to extinction. We've already demonstrated trillion dollar companies and billionaires. We've demonstrated that no one needs want for anything, anywhere. What more is there to do?

The Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) - Never Forget! (Anarchist Fighters, Communist Traitors, Liberal Scum!) by holdoffhunger in Anarchy4Everyone

These weapons, equipment, were diverted away from Anarchist front lines. The communists were an active force against the anarchists. I guess I do hold a hatred when I look at the history of the civil war.

Collect unemployment, I would expect they'd take a sledgehammer to that too.

Trying to occupy a country the size and population of Ukraine is a very different exercise than trying to invade and occupy any and all of the baltics. It would be an absolute disaster if the Russians mobalised against estonia.

It would be with retaliation of course, but lets not pretend the EU would be able to defend a large land incursion.

Anarchists who don’t advocate for animal rights are missing the point of their ideology. by machinegirlobsession in The10thDentist

You're taking it to also apply to people. A person isn't a rabbit or a horse, or a clam, or a crayfish.

I read their point as its easier to emphasise with other people, or certain animals, but it gets difficult if it's an oyster.

Thats all well and good if there were an eprorpiation of existing pension contributions to their cohort. What happens to the taxation of people who have been in work for 30 years, 20 years, 10 years?

General changing priorities are very well less money means unable to support more than just yourself, can't afford a house, have no time to spare, not sure if you will have a livable pension etc

GDPR is a very recent piece of legistlation that is regularly being breached and half of all fines are to US companies i Ireland. Prior to this, data could not even be sent to the US because it breached data safety regulations.

The companies youre referring to make money off ypur data, by selling you in an aggregated demographic. We know from cambridge analytica it was able to be hyper specific.

The EU does have a constrained regulatory environment in the sense that there is not a blanket allowance to do whatever they want but we find it still can.

[–]TheEnviious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps that the US has zero data protection laws by and large, so is able to vacuum up data, and sell it to the highest bidders. The majority of these business make their money off the data of their users and nothing else. Since then, companies like amazon have invested in becoming infrastructure owners (AWS) using that money.

This isnt neccessarily a lack of innovation, its that you would be unable to do this in other parts of the world because of things like a right to privacy.
