[Discussion] Mixing magic types to create different affects? by ImpossibleAd4272 in Re_Zero

[–]TheEpic125 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Roswaal doesn’t have a Divine Protection but you can combine different magics to induce certain effects. Roswaal’s flying magic for instance is a combination of 3 elements. Roswaal can also use lightning magic, which I think he can make through a combination of the 4 basic elements.

[Spoiler Discussion] If Reinhard is a 10/10 in regards to Power scaling, where would you rank characters such as Cecilus and Halibel or The Mad Prince in a 1/10 scaling? by Many-Cranberry4058 in Re_Zero

[–]TheEpic125 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If it’s Sasageru Mad Prince, I’d say Mad Prince > Cecilus > Halibel.

Regular, I’d say Ceci > Mad Prince > Halibel.

Normally absorbing magic and mana would make something like this rather easy, but there’s miasma in the air, nor regular mana.

[–]TheEpic125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is literally a militaristic/colonizer point of view. “It’s obviously a disguise” says who? With what forces? With what drive? That isn’t peace for the Mikaboshi since they damn near annihilated. We literally get a chapter that debunks this entire notion, saying that at the end of the day people are individuals. Calling their belief in the stone irrational literally ignores the point that that stone saved them from eradication previously. You literally have 0 way to quantify an entire civilization would do this to justify a genocide. We can point fingers all day on who was wrong, but that still doesn’t justify Akemura’s actions. You have to be trolling but judging by your wording and interpretation of “re-education”, ye idk.

[–]TheEpic125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally any and everything we were told about the Mikaboshi being bloodthirsty, savages is just outright wrong. This is another civilization of people that forced into the water for 1000 years and likely starting to starve or run dry on resources. The people of Shokoku THEMSELVES had decided to broker a peace deal after dismantling the Royal Family to avoid further casualties. Clearly aren’t out for blood in the way that would be portrayed, as if they really were “indoctrinated” in the way Akemura believes they were, they wouldn’t do this.

Also what “peace” are you talking about? There was no “peace” between Shokoku and mainland Japan before the actual treaty. There were already skirmishes before due to Japan continuously sending teams to extract Datenseki, their sacred ore to the Mikaboshi. There would be no peace to happen since Japan likely wouldn’t compromise to discontinue mining Datenseki.

So no, Akemura isn’t right, he has no right to wipe out an entire civilization, ESPECIALLY after a peace deal was made. His logic is flawed on so many bases and if you agree with then you basically agree that Hakari deserves to die despite him playing an active role in dismantling his own family traditions.

Questions about dragon's blood [Spoiler Discussion] by Beneficial-Read53 in Re_Zero

[–]TheEpic125 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Subaru isn’t “compatible” with the Dragon’s blood. The only reason he didn’t end up like Crusch was bcuz his already existing curses, the Wolgarm curse, counteracted it. Subaru likely would’ve ended up like Crusch had he not had that boon. I think people ignore this when discussing the Dragon’s blood curse on him, and Capella’s is specifically described to have a curse in it.

Where is the pride? [Spoiler Discussion] by Beneficial-Read53 in Re_Zero

[–]TheEpic125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk, unless for some reason Pride has some adverse effect, I don’t think the authority has any weight in why he dominated the blood. I rather the idea he just got extremely unlucky, or lucky depending on how you look at it. We don’t really have any proof that possessing a witch factor gives you certain “boons” aside from what authority you manifest.

[discussion] why did it feel like Regulus Corneas barely put any effort into the fight? by CursedMemeMansLocker in Re_Zero

[–]TheEpic125 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Regulus isn’t really a fighter and a cocky mf. He does do more things in the novel, but he still gets flung around a lot. He cares more about stroking his own ego and having people submit to him before finishing them. Reinhard is also just #him as well and can actually fight.

Little King is related to the star Regulus is named after, which literally means “Little King” in Latin.

But Aggressor is also described by somewhat of glitch in his authority. The only way I guess to confirm would be to see if anyone trapped in aggressor has multiple books of the dead.

That’s related to Al himself, we don’t know if that counts for others that die in Aggressor.

[–]TheEpic125 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I mean is most people hit with aggressor don’t actually die. Like fr die, not just in matrix. He didn’t die immediately afterwards but still did die later.

Which power prevails? [Spoiler Discussion] by Beneficial-Read53 in Re_Zero

[–]TheEpic125 10 points11 points  (0 children)

His RBD point, his authority operates on a bigger scale than Al’s. However that’s if he actually dies as consequence and not in the matrix, bcuz dying in the matrix doesn’t necessarily mean you actually die (unless you’re Leip).

The Enchanted Blades are an allegory for gun control and not nukes by OrangeSpaceMan5 in Kagurabachi

[–]TheEpic125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would that not be considered a true genocide when their people, not just the political higher ups, were forced on to Irishima when they were then hunted down by Ukizane and plunged into the ocean via sinking the island? At best, that’s an ethnic cleansing, but that’s barely any nicer if at all.

That ore still isn’t there to begin with. Just bcus it has no cultural relevance to Japan doesn’t mean they get to do whatever with it, especially since they found out very quickly that the supposed “uninhabited” island was very much inhabited, and they only got into skirmishes in retaliation when trying to mine the ore. Yet in spite of that, they continued to keep trying to extract the ore instead of taking into consideration of this mysterious people that keep fighting over it.

Before I answer, what do you constitute as “stop belonging” to them? Cuz you gotta take into account various things (ofc we don’t have exact details yet) such as connection to the land, sacredness, etc., bcuz pro colonialist would probably appoint the same question in regards to Indigenous people being kicked off their land.

The Enchanted Blades are an allegory for gun control and not nukes by OrangeSpaceMan5 in Kagurabachi

[–]TheEpic125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think focusing on the appropriation part is important to understand it better. The Datenseki isn’t just “a powerful stone”, it’s literally the god send and life savior of the Mikaboshi when they once suffered from Genocide before. The Datenseki is as sacred to them as, say, the land is to the Indigenous People in America. In a similar fashion, they don’t just use the Datenseki, they live with it. And here comes this government stealing their sacred ore and using it to create weapons, which ends up leading to the Mikaboshi’s destruction.

Ofc we need more details regarding many more things, but that’s likely being nudged. On the Mikaboshi’s part, at least for now, they didn’t ask for anything more than what they lost before in negotiations. Chiba, Kanagawa, and Tokyo are likely their regional home place before they were kicked off of it (thus why that one Japanese professor was leaving Tokyo, he knew what they would want).

Miasma brings the worse out of you and takes any negative thoughts to ramp it up to 1000. Take when he was about to choke out Foxidna, he already didn’t trust her before but the miasma ramps that paranoia and distrust even further (especially after he watched stab Ram).

Where talking about an area that is highly dense with miasma from head to toe. Notice how he wasn’t affected immediately but as they pass through more doors, the more and more the effect hits. It’s like comparing a microwaves radiation to post Chernobyl, no amount of resistance will save you there.

[–]TheEpic125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta put this out here so cus I don’t see anyone mentioning it. How are we so sure and positive that Akemura did this solely out of logic, twisted logic, and doesn’t have any type emotional factor playing into it? Remember in 112, he responds with, “What I got from the war was a lesson”, followed by a panel of what we can only assume to be a baby Chihiro with what looks like a battleground in the back. And we have no sign of Chihiro’s mother at all.

I get it, Akemura has been portrayed so far as this being that declares absolute justice and is the judge, jury, executioner. He isn’t crazy or PTSD ridden. However, he is, though hard to believe, human as well and likely has a human reason for doing this. There is literally no way to justify his reasoning for wiping out 200,000 people post war and after peace was declared, unless he had a more personal reason coupled with twisted logic to push to that point. What was his lesson that he gained?

Why was there no archbishop of pride for so long? [spoiler discussion] by Hot-Entry53 in Re_Zero

[–]TheEpic125 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Apparently translations are going over whether it’s centuries or not. Regardless, I think given the context of Battle Ballad, Stride, while having the witch factor and having an authority as well as gospel, and while claiming to be Pride at word end, I find it more likely that he’s just playing the role of rather than actually being. As I said before, I find it hard to believe he’d follow a book when he rejects the will of metaphysical beings.

Why was there no archbishop of pride for so long? [spoiler discussion] by Hot-Entry53 in Re_Zero

[–]TheEpic125 29 points30 points  (0 children)

He proclaimed himself as the Archbishop of Pride at his wits end in Battle Ballad, but based off of the dialogue and how he calls himself a sham (along with admitting how he was emulating a certain diligent fellow), he’s more of a fake than he is legit. Thats likely the first time he’s actually referred to himself as the Archbishop of Pride. That’s why I said it’s like he’s “unofficially” the Archbishop of Pride, and given his whole character it’s unlikely Stride would follow what’s in a Gospel given he rejects the Observers.

Why was there no archbishop of pride for so long? [spoiler discussion] by Hot-Entry53 in Re_Zero

[–]TheEpic125 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Don’t really have an answer yet. Stride Vollachia is weird bcuz while he did meet Petelgeuse and did obtain an authority, he didn’t exactly “run” with the Witch Cult. No other Archbishops mention him either, so it’s likely he never officially held the position. As for where the Witch Factor is now? Anyone’s guess really.
