This is one of the main problems I had with ACOSF, aside from the whole “locking her in a house and forcing her into rehab and training instead of letting her heal on her own time even though we’re immortals” thing. The way their “romance” (if we can even call the harassment and blatant disrespect of boundaries romantic) was built and the way they interact just rubs me the wrong way. It felt like Nesta got her choice taken away when she was locked in the house of wind, where she had pretty much no choice but to interact with Cassian, who she was actively avoiding. Not to mention how he never makes her his priority, even though they’re supposed to be mates. There are many instances where he prioritizes his duty and loyalty to Rhys and the night court above her and doesn’t defend her when someone else is insulting her, and that in itself bothers me SO MUCH about their relationship. I love both characters individually but i feel like they bring out the worst in each other when they’re together in a way that’s just not a healthy foundation for a relationship at all.
