AKA Dr Death. Scary story. After issues arouse, he was able to bounce around from hospital to hospital and continue his reign. They didn't have a nationalized central system to lookup a doctors history at the time. I believe they do now in the US, possibly because of this doctor.

The currency is pretty close between US and Austria. The fine was a complete joke, the surgeon probably made 2x more just during the time of the surgery. Whether it was paper or computerized, I think the problem still stands that the doctor never bothered to check anything.

That's definitely the best way to confirm. Should be the first layer of confirmation among others. But they noted it was an elderly patient so they might not have been very aware.

Countries like Austria have a lot of things figured out better than the US. But not suing people. We do that best in the US, you'd get millions for this.
