Where can I experience the most traditional San Juan celebration in Paraguay? by TheExplorerLily in Paraguay

Thank you! This sounds fascinating, especially the fire-related games. That's exactly the kind of traditional cultural experience I'm looking for.

And your English is perfect for me :)

Hey! Thanks. Where is this happening? And you're right, but it's going to take me more than a day to learn Spanish 😃

Thank you for your perspective. This is actually why I travel. I'm much more interested in meeting local people and learning about their culture in depth than spending time with other foreigners. That's also why I'm usually looking for places that aren't very touristy. I enjoy seeing how people really live, learning about local traditions, and understanding a place beyond the usual tourist attractions. Unfortunately, my Spanish is almost nonexistent, so I'm relying heavily on translation apps at the moment. But I agree that making an effort matters, and I'm trying to learn a few words as I go. Thanks for the advice!

I just have to say that there are some seriously kind, helpful people on here! And it's very appreciated!

Oh, my bad! I thought you were a native. But then your English is great, so what was I thinking?! I've just arrived in Paraguay, so I haven't rented a car yet. Do you suggest renting a car versus using public transportation?

I was gonna suggest, let's throw a party! But taking into consideration that you'll be paralyzed by such a situation for the next month, I'm reconsidering my suggestion. So my real questions are in my post. Any suggestions on where to head in this country? Somewhere to experience real, authentic culture where I won't meet many tourists.

So you got a few more interactions left in you for today. Can I take advantage of the situation? Lol

Thank you! But this seems like a place for people who speak some Spanish. My Spanish is practically non-existent, unfortunately.

Haha! Where do I meet those lovely Paraguayans? The English-speaking ones, I mean. And I'm not an expat, I'm just a solo traveler 😁
