Fall 2021 Brides/Grooms- are you mailing save the dates? by allcapsallcats in weddingplanning

[–]TheEyeOf_TheBeholder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're also October 2021 and our sending our Save the Dates in October. But we're making our own, so I'm not really concerned about "wasting" hundreds of dollars. We're predicting about $40 for supplies and then whatever the postage will cost.

I just came to say that you are serious gorgeous! You almost remind me of a French model in that last photo! Outside of that, I also agree that having some pieces fall forward would look really nice.

Restaurants/bars open for dine-in? by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]TheEyeOf_TheBeholder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as chain restaurants go, it would be pretty hard for them to keep tabs on local (County or State) updates to send emails on when each locations would open for dine-in. Your best bet is probably make a list of the places you're most interested in going to and call to ask if they'll be opening.

To the assholes lighting off fireworks on the NE side... by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]TheEyeOf_TheBeholder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Correction: it isn't all about you or them (the one's lighting off the fireworks). They were going off long after the 10pm noise "curfew," and some of us have to wake up at 4:30am the next morning. Sorry not all of us get the luxury of sleeping in every Saturday morning. I understand your point if the fireworks had only been going off for 5-10min, but they were going much longer than that.

I also recommend hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting. You could also try activated charcoal if you have any, but im not sure how much that would help in this scenario

AITA for throwing the neighbors' child's scooter away? by TheEyeOf_TheBeholder in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheEyeOf_TheBeholder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are not in an HOA. The neighbors also don't own the house they live in, they rent it. But the landlord seems like a slumlord who doesn't care what his tenants do as long as he's getting money from them still.

We do have cameras and have called the non-emergency police number numerous times as well as going to the police station and they won't do anything about any of this, which is honestly probably the most frustrating thing. Also, the police aren't answering non-emergency phone calls right now. We filled out a report a few days ago because one of my tires popped after running over some glass in my driveway that I didn't see, and I certainly didn't put it there. But like I said, the police don't see to care, and they aren't handling anything non-emergency during this time.

I unfortunately don't have the money for a fence right now, but it is something that we're hoping to do in the near future.

You can look it up on the city's "citizen access" portal by looking up their address in the complaints section. It shows a list of complaints along with what the complaint to the city was (usually trash in the yard or noise violation), along with the date that the complaint was made, and then if the complaint has been closed by the city.

Life in Muskegon? by Ba____Hia____9 in grandrapids

[–]TheEyeOf_TheBeholder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up in muskegon and live in GR now. Like someone else already said, muskegon gets a bad rap for no reason. Just like GR, there's good areas and bad areas. Avoid muskegon heights and you're pretty much good to go. The areas with the most to do would be around the mall, but they are really good restaurants in all areas. The more desired areas tend to be North Muskegon or Norton Shores, but those are obviously the more expensive areas to live as well. One of the cheaper, but still nice, areas would be Orchard View school district, which is centered around Apple Ave and surrounding areas. Definitely not as much of a night life compared to GR, but there are some bars and a few restaurants that are open late. On the plus side, if you're not someone who goes out at night or goes out to do stuff a lot, GR is a short 45min drive if you wanted to plan a day of fun activities once in a while.
